After having severe prednisone withdrawall symptoms, being put back on, do you think I can get back off? I was ISL disease.
Hi @klmmrm and welcome to Connect. I totally understand your concern – I know that dealing with withdrawal symptoms can be incredibly challenging. I did find some information about managing withdrawal symptoms from prednisone, check it out and see if it’s helpful. http://www.mayoclinic.org/prednisone-withdrawal/expert-answers/faq-20057923.
Would you mind sharing a little more about your diagnosis? I’d like to connect you with @kellie, @xango, and @patsyelsie, as all of these members have previously written about pain management with prednisone.
Have you talked to your doctor about tapering off prednisone, rather than coming off it abruptly? What helped you manage your withdrawal symptoms the last time?

Hi There! This is my first time for responding to anyone on this site. I
hope this gives you some encouragement.
I have been on prednisone for many, many years. I now have necrosis of the
bone due to this.
The dr put me on Fosimax for the bone deterioration issue. Also when I have
to go back on prednisone, due to severe asthmas or health issues, we have
agreed on a digressive treatment of prednisone. He gives me a script of
pills for only 4 to 7 days, depending on the issue.
It starts out with about 4 pills for three days, then drop one pill each
4th day until they are gone, ex: 4 for 3, 3 for 3, 2 for 3, one for 3. It
has done the trick for the past two years.
I have only had to do it maybe 3 times in the past 2 years. I have no
issues this way. It clears up the current issue and I have no side effects.
Hope this helps your thoughts.
