Hi,
I've had fibromyalgia for about twenty years/ some days worse than others.
My family still does not understand that there are days when I hurt so much
I can't make myself do anything but the basics.
I am also a senior living in an assisted living facility, but as an
independent resident. When are people going to realize that this condition
is real and the pain is real? Empathy would be nice instead of lectures on
how this one or that one pushes the pain aside and does this, that and the
next thing. I am not now and will never be a martyr. If I hurt, I hurt. Get
over it you judgemental folks.
Hi everyone. My name is Debbie and I am from Ohio. I have had chronic pain for about 15 years. Doctors can't figure out wher the pain is coming from. It is very frustrating.
Hello. I am new too.
This is Eve. It is very frustrating! Most of the meds make me so sleepy and yet doesn't do that much for the pain. I really want to do things for myself. I know there are things that I should not do and if I do them, I can expect to pay for it. I have so many things wrong with my back. I have been told by a spine specialist that there is nothing they can do. I could really get depressed if not for my faith and my christian friends. I pray that someone will find something for us!
Me too!
There have been times when I think they are thinking that it is all in my head.
What if there was an extremely simple genetic test, covered by insurance, that could tell you which medications would work best for you based on your unique genetic profile? There is, this type of genetic testing is know as Pharmacogentic testing (Profiling). The test is performed by colleting an individual's DNA through a noninvasive buccal swab.
Physicians can now screen patients prior to prescribing a wide spectrum of medications within several different therapeutic drug categories.

This now takes the trial and error out of prescribing medicine. So many of us have the issue of medications don't work for us or we have to try so many with terrible side effects before (if we are lucky) we find the right drug or combination of drugs.
The each test is done once (4 types, Thrombosis, Cardiovascular, Mental Health, Medical Management) because our genetic make up does not change. Depending on the lab you use, the results are very simple to read. You are given a card that has your results for you share with any healthcare provider needed. (ER, Hospital, Specialists, Primary Care, etc..)

I will check in to this testing. I am sensitive to so much, and allergic to some. So......
I have had this test. It is a simple cheek swab, and I got information about so many classes of drugs that I take. I even found out that my liver doesn't convert folic acid to folate, so I researched the best form of folate to take, and now I supplement. Low folate levels have been linked to heart disease and dementia. The test I took is GeneSight by Assurex. If your insurance doesn't cover the test, you pay $0- $330, based on income. Medicare patients pay $0. It is a $5500 test! Such a deal. It addressed so many of my mental health, pain, and other meds. You can call the company at 855-891-9415 or email them at medinfo@assurexhealth.com. for more information. I got my test st the psychiatrist's office, but any doctor can order it. You need a doctor to help you interptet the results. Best of all, I had results within a week!
