Glutathione: What dosage do you use? Where do you get it?

Posted by kathleenlp @kathleenlp, Apr 4, 2022

Hi! Yes, I have ALL these but doing surprisingly well...mostly asymptomatic. Got HMPV at Christmas, pretty sick but bounced back. On a mission to try some out of the box treatments to keep me well. If you have used glutathione in a nebulizer, can you tell me who (type doctor) prescribed and what dosage etc. and did you think it helped? Also Sodium Chloride.

Hello....I am new to this forum and new to bronchiectasis. I had just learned how to pronounce bronchoscopy and then they threw the other "b" word at me.

I have already ordered the L-Glutathione Plus. I read a lot about it, and it can't hurt!!! How often do you nebulize with it.....once a day, twice a day??????

I nebulize just one capsule every other day mixed in my saline. You will probably just need to experiment with daily vs not daily. The sulphur taste is off putting but tolerable. So I do not like doing it daily.

@mpowers501 I use to nebulize once a day with saline and glutathione but now I do every other day with the glutathione. I think it's just up to each person. Nan

Any suggestions for fair priced vials? Amazon is $1 each

Here I found a few that are currently in stock:
Nebology 60 vials/$42. Discount on first order.
https://nebology.com/products/pari-hypersal-sodium-chloride-solution-7-concentration-1-box
Base Labs, 50 vials/$35 (or $28 by auto-reorder)
https://baselaboratories.com/products/base-labs-nebulizer-saline-solution-vials-50pk
These are both in stock at this moment.
As much as we are hooked on them, Amazon isn't always the cheapest place to shop.

@kathleenlp and I also have been taking oral glutathione for a couple of years now that my functional medicine doctor gave me. He says it's the single most important antioxidant in the human body. And I'll never forget a comment made by Dr. Hyman once in a podcast that they did a study once between hospitalized patients and people not in the hospital and found that those in the hospital had very low levels or no glutathione in their bodies whereas healthy people had normal levels. So that was enough for me to hear about glutathione. The one I take is called ReadiSorb....it's a white plastic bottle with a green label. You can google it. I looked on Amazon but I don't see it there. There are other brands I'm sure. I take a teaspoon a day on an empty stomach and wait 20 minutes usually. Sometimes I skip a day here and there because it's not cheap. I also believe in Chinese herbs but I think you have to hook up with a Chinese practitioner to get those herbs. I did do acupuncture for a year like Pecaut did but maybe I should have done it for longer. I also have had a chronic cough for four years since I got the flu in 2018. I was diagnosed in 2016 with no symptoms but my lungs looked bad on the CT scan. And then boom, I get the flu in 2018 and it almost killed me and left me with a chronic cough that no one has figured out yet so I'm working on that, too. Right now to no avail but I'm not giving up. Good luck in your journey! Nan

I am new to all of this. Just diagnosed and reading everything I possibly can. I already ordered L-Glutathione and have nebulized a couple of days with it. Not sure if it just in my mind but there seems to be some loosening of mucous this morning while nebulizing!!
The ReadiSorb, at a teaspoon a day are you looking at around 24 doses per 4 ounce bottle (and $60 a bottle!!!)? Do you mix it with anything, or just take it straight?
My SmartVest arrives next Wednesday. Can't wait to get started with that.
Hope you don't mind, but I'll probably have a thousand more questions as I start this journey.

Thanks!!!!

@mpowers501 Questions are good! And all the smart people on this site are super helpful! So ask away. On the ReadiSorb, yes that price is about right. It's not cheap but then good brands aren't. I take a teaspoon a day and mix it with a little water (now granted I haven't taken it for a week but I'll get back to it) And you're suppose to wait about twenty minutes before you eat or drink anything. At least that's what it says on the bottle. I follow Dr. Mark Hyman and I'll never forget a few years ago I heard him say that they did a study one time of people in the hospital and a group of healthy people not in the hospital (this was a study on oral glutathione) and they found that the sick people in the hospital had very low levels to none of glutathione in their bodies and the healthy group all had good levels of glutathione....now I heard this a long time ago so I might not have it all exactly right but I think you get the gist of it. So I've been taking it for about three years. My functional medicine doctor gave it to me. Hope that helps. Nan

Reduced L-Glutathione is what I use. You can purchase it capsule or in powder form. I was directed for "my issue" (1) 500mg capsule x daily [nebulized] with 3% saline (4ml). If using powder 1/5 of a teaspoon Reduced L-Glutathione 4ml saline 2x daily. I am not a doctor, but this is the regimen. Mix the above, until the reduced L-Glutathione is completely dissolved into the saline before nebulizing. I use a Pari Vios nebulizer, and a session is about 10 minutes.

Those of you who are taking oral NAC, are you taking it on an empty stomach? That is what I understand is optimal, but when I do so I get a terrible pain in my throat and stomach so now I take it with meals; two 600mg tablets a day, one in the morning and one at night. Since I'm taking it with food, I've doubled the dose, figuring that at least some of it might be absorbed. Reading through this thread I see that NAC can cause insomnia, which I have at least once a week, so maybe I'll just take both capsules in the morning.

I take oral NAC 600mg 2X a day. In the morning, right after a light breakfast. In the evening, I try for 2 hours after dinner for all my evening meds, otherwise a handful of pretzels or crackers. I have never been able to take most meds "on an empty stomach" without pain - lucky I never had to take thyroid meds!

As for insomnia - I haven't noticed, but I am in general a poor sleeper, so never know if meds are a problem...
