Do other long haulers suffer with brain changes? Seen any improvement?

Posted by mindig @mindig, Oct 28, 2021

Hi there,
I am new to the site and have been recommended by my Dr to reach out. I had covid19 in November, I still struggle with fatigue, body aches, shortness of breath, racing heart and cognitive brain changes which have turned my world upside down. Does any one suffer with brain changes? and have you seen improvement over time?

My daughter got help through her union. In Minnesota, the Attorney General's office has a hotline set up for the issue. Those are 2 places to start.

@sueinmn i am in MN and in a union. Would love to talk. My union has not been helpful. Maybe I’m not talking to the right people or asking the right questions

Here is a fairly comprehensive list of information and resources for Covid in Minnesota. If you have been denied worker compensation,
you have very specific time limits for appeal. You need to fully read the denial..

They approved when I was first diagnosed. Then closed the case. When I wasn’t getting better and Dx with long Covid symptoms they denied me.

After you have a chance to look at some of the links on the page I sent, maybe we can chat agin about what options you might have.
What category of front line worker do you fall into?

For purposes of comparison, Did the long-haulers often have "break through" cases or were they unprotected by vaccinations?

I had covid first at the end of Jan. 2021. I then had the two vaccines in Feb. 2021. So I'm not sure which caused all of my problems.

I am a long hauler. Vaccinations were not available at the time. The vaccine helped reduce the frequency of my symptoms. I had Covid September 2020. I wait until the data was in and my teenager was vaccinated. I did not want to get worse. The vaccine did not heal me but it helped me. My children did get Covid after being vaccinated I cared for them I did not get Covid after being exposed.

I was diagnosed with Covid on Feb 5. Here a month later I am struggling with extreme tiredness, shortness of breath, and memory loss. Plus my hands shake. When will this end?

Welcome, @pattykakes. When will it end is a question that no one can answer, at least not yet. It's a struggle and everyone's road to recovery is slightly different with overlapping similarities. Not what you wanted to hear, I know.

It's early days for you. What I hear over and over again from fellow longhaulers is to be patient and to pace yourself. Perhaps this discussion would be a good place to learn from others who have found deep breathing to way to begin the recovery journey.

Patty, do you notice any pattern to your fatigue or your shaking hands? Do you keep a journal of your symptoms?
