Do other long haulers suffer with brain changes? Seen any improvement?

Posted by mindig @mindig, Oct 28, 2021

Hi there,
I am new to the site and have been recommended by my Dr to reach out. I had covid19 in November, I still struggle with fatigue, body aches, shortness of breath, racing heart and cognitive brain changes which have turned my world upside down. Does any one suffer with brain changes? and have you seen improvement over time?

Dear mindig, Welcome to this group. I’ve had Long Covid for 3 1/2 years and still struggle with brain changes. Part of brain change is exacerbation of mild ADHD to the point of often feeling unsafe to drive. Some users of this site report that their practitioners have prescribed Adderall and this has helped [my own practitioner took me off Ritalin due to my age]. Going on an anti-inflammatory diet helped me the most, including giving up coffee. I know this sounds counter-intuitive, but my brain fog lifted considerably after stopping coffee. I have trouble reading now, and what seems to help the best are Lion’s Mane mushroom supplement and an anti-inflammatory supplement called Shilajit [active component fulvic acid]. I’m about to start L-Citrulline to see if boosting nitric acid levels helps. I take CoQ10 but want to see if similar supplement MitoQ might improve blood flow to my brain. Taking a good multi-vitamin, Omega 3-6-9, staying hydrated and eating regularly also help brain fog and cognitive abilities for me. I’ve had to change to texting rather than phone calls because my audio processing (without visual input) is now damaged. Best wishes to you !
