C. difficile – Are your guts ever normal again?

Posted by sue6408 @sue6408, Jan 27, 2019

Does anyone know any body that has recovered from c.diff (guts back to pre-c.diff status ) . I have been negative for a year and still have bloating every time I eat anything and sporadic diarrhea. I need maternity clothing to eat and be comfortable. I have 0 appetite since I was initially infected.I am on creon 36,000 . this helps some what with bloating,I take papya&pineapple enzymes not helping, and floraster 2xday not sure about that.I have tried the FODMAP diet, I avoid many foods on that diet. I am seeing an RD, just finished an elimination diet with her. If I eat I bloat there for I am. Bottom line...are my guts ruined forever ?

Brasileira, do you have c-difficle?

@colleenyoung I think @brasileira has never heard of cdiff and wants a definition.

Hi there; I have been off the Vanco now for 2 months and I still don`t feel right. still have burning when I go,can`t eat anything fatty, no French fries, sad!!! I take RENEWEL-S. Boulardii once a day [same as florastor] and also a basic probiotic as well. Have only half my energy I had before 3 bouts of C Diff. It seems to be a long recovery process

Good to hear from you. It took me a while several months to finally now starting to get back to normal. It took about 7 months for my body to regulate. And I still cannot eat fatty food and I am sticking to healthy eating. Still taking Boulardii and probiotic I alternate between those two. Hang in there and I wish you a speedy recovery.

..SORRY cant see a year date on these... I took over 120 vancomycin for c diff 2018 have not felt right since, together with other illnesses, tinnitus, glaucoma etc., and I too wonder if affected my kidneys as I have been referred to a nephrologist. She has had many tests, blood, ultrsoun, done and i see her next week.... she said maybe from radiation 39 years ago or my age 77 but like yu am wondering if VANCOMYCIN causes the problems.......hope to ask her if I remember and she has time...so busy during Covid lockdowns etc.

@lacy2 I definitely think that vancomycin is such a strong antibiotic that it definitely wreaks havoc in our systems. Particularly, because I took so much of it! But probably the doctor will not say that. Look at the mess clindamycin caused!
