MAC and getting the COVID vaccine

Posted by cmi @cmi, Jan 6, 2021

This is a wonderful team...like a real cooperativa family...we are a band of patients that strategize together...amazing. All good dialogue for “rits”...I also believe the CAT scan would be a good step...it arms the doctor with evidence.

I have another question for the group...what are the feelings on “us” being candidates for the Covid vaccine? Has anyone yet vaccinated? I see my ID doc this afternoon...it is one of my concerns. Any feedback appreciated.

i was nervous too. but it was fine. and its such a relief.i was joyous. im 84 and have suffered with lung cancer too. so being anxious comes with the territory. but its worth it.

Well, my entire family is now vaccinated, both doses. Some Moderna, most Pfizer. We all had some immune response, from aches to fever, and each was worse with the second dose. My kids and sister are nurses, we're high risk, my son-in-law does work in care facilities that wanted him immunized.
I would do it again in a minute - with asthma, Bronchiectasis and MAC Covid would be horrible - my last 4 colds have ended up as bronchitis and/or pneumonia.
We are still cautious, masking, hand washing and being careful about outings.

I have Bronchiectasis, MAC, 2 strains, on the big 3 right now (third time since 2005) also have CVID (I do t make IgG), my immunologist at Hopkins said absolutely get the vaccine. I have had both of the Moderna. Some mild side effects. Probably won’t make antibodies but hopefully some Tcells .

Both my ID and Pulmonary Doctors said I should get the Covid vaccine, so I am the list at one of the local pharmacies.

Is anyone familiar with these two medicines that my Dr has given me to take through my nebulizer. One is the sodium chloride 3%. The other is budesonide .5mg. I have Bronchiectasis and Mac lung disease. I feel nervous about taking a steroid which is budesonide.

I just received my first shot, so glad to get it. Had no reaction at all. Arm barely sore. Get my 2nd in 3 weeks and know I will have a sense of relief just to feel like there is a level of protection there.....

Same here. Not totally comfortable with it yet. Self self isolation is working for me.
