@capper Wow that is not good. I hope you are seeing your cardiologist about this and he should be able to take care of it . In 1996 I had a triple by pass due to 85%,90%,95% blockage so please don't let this go . I was then put on cholesterol medication after the surgery.
In 2008 I had angioplasty and four stents to fix my clogged artery; one 98% and three at 70%. MAYO-Rochester told me I could have open heart and bypasses, angioplasty and stents or a medicine only treatment. Angioplasty was easy by comparison to chest cutting. I was a day in bed, an over night observation period and then released with the caution not to lift anything heavy for a couple days. After three days I was free to drive back to California
@bob720 I don't know where my response went to but I wanted to tell you . I had no other option but open heart surgery as the balloon first that was put in collapsed and my veins where to small for stints . This all took place in Pa . but now I live in So.Cal.

@capper- Back in 2014 I had a HA which came out of nowhere. I was working out 3x a week and still working. I came home from a typical workout ready to cleanup, eat a late lunch and head back to work. I started feeling somewhat faint and then all the typical side effects with pain radiating down my left arm and then across my chest. Even though I would say I was certain I was having a HA that seemed so far fetched that my wife & I decided to take the 20 mim. drive
up to the ER to get checked out. Bad idea! Halfway up there my pain was at a high 10 and I felt very sick. After getting admitted, I was given several typical tests and for some strange reason I was not registering as though I was having a HA. The ER Dr. told my wife they would admit me and schedule a stress test in the morning. My wife headed home to grab a few things and meanwhile a Echo Tech came in and got started and about 10 min. in walked out of the room and returned with the Cardiologist. Things moved along swiftly from that point. Within the next hr. I had 1 stent placed in my LAD (left anterior descending artery). I was told I was very fortunate because although I was in very good shape I had just had what they called "The Widow Maker" with 100% blockage in my LAD.
I would highly recommend a stress echo because they are far more conclusive of blocked arteries. Don't Delay on this @capper! Jim @thankful

I was told that capillaries had grown around my clogged artery and they supplied enough blood to prevent HA. I had been on weight loss for 15 months and lost 100 pounds with diet and long walks uphill.

@capper
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I've lost 65 pounds with 20 more to go. My goal is 145 pounds. I don't imagine my milkshake and candy bar today is helping my cause.

For me, weight loss is nearly a full time job. I did a big study on SODIUM and another study on calories burned while walking uphill. The YMCA is helpful and I have Silver Sneakers plan with my HUMANA plan. I dropped from 340 to 240 and kept it off for several years. Now I've let bread and cheese back into my diet and I've been at 280 for several years...a plateau as they say.
I just read of a gov't study on heart procedures. Bypass surgery and angioplasty with stents only gets the clogged arteries on the heart. The rest of your circulatory system is probably clogged as well (a life time of ham and cheese omelets). The medicine only approach may be advisable.They describe the medicine as Baby aspirin, cholesterol statin and blood pressure meds.
My doctors at MAYO-Rochester opened up my clogged artery with four stents "and" prescribed the medicines also: aspirin, Simvistatin and Benazipril. You might say I got the relief of repairs to the major blockages and the meds for any clogging that might occur later.

I guess I hit your REPLY box and not the Clapper who has 100% blockage. My doctor said anything more than three bypasses and you get bragging rights.
