He is getting surgery tomorrow to remove mass have no idea if cancerous- assuming they will send off - doc said removal mayโ€jump start his kidney which he was unaware is not functioning.. he had prostate cancer and has brach treatment i believe - that cancers gone but i have been reading that having had radiation for it may lead to bladder cancer - anyone experience this?

@formydad So glad to hear you and your dad and rest of family made it through the surgery! I was wondering all day yesterday. The best advice I can give for recovery is to listen to the drs and follow their suggestions. They know your dad's case and what will be best for him. There may be others here who have a more personal experience with this type of surgery and can add something. We will continue to pull for everyone, and look forward to the progress reports you post!

Yeah it was scary that it took 4 1/3 hours and there was a tumor we werent expecting but hes doing so well... hope it keeps up! He is still in hospital todays day one after -but he feels 100% better this time after surgery than he did when he got his kidney out- he also has the epidural but hes been up walking four times up and down hall - he is at different hospital with a different team of doctors. He is using the breathing machine..here every hour. Ill keep ya up! Thanks!

Well todays a lil different last night mom was staying with dad and got sick- both ends -so she went to er after a battery-of need less tests and all night stay shes fine gastro/ food poison diagnosed - so she went home to keep dad well but he was throwing up bile all night in hosp and now they've tubed him. I havent been up to see him today since nurse said he prob needed to rest. ๐Ÿ™ also its just stuff but-she said it hurts a little- someone took all her immediate jewelry in the er- she took off for testing. They went back to let them know . praying someone grow a conscience. Rains, sometimes it pours but we press on.

@formydad I hope when you read this, that your dad is resting more comfortably now, and feeling better today. And that you have rested, and your mom has recovered from the food poisoning. What a rotten thing to do, take her jewelry! Any word on that, yet?

@formydad What a night your mom had. I canโ€™t imagine. Was security notified about the missing jewelry? Maybe โ€˜someoneโ€™ took it to the lost and found. You might also want to contact the patient representative. He/she can follow up for you.
Are your parents doing better this morning? What is planned for your dad today?

@formydad I hope things are going better today with both of your parents. I am so sorry about your mother's jewelry. They do always say to not bring jewelry or anything of value so I guess that's why. I had a pair of brand new expensive ($120) UGG slippers on when I was taken down for an endoscopy. When I got back to my room they were nowhere to be found. They had been a recent gift so I was very upset. I learned, from then on I didn't bring anything of value other than my phone and IPad. I realize that is probably small compared to jewelry but both are upsetting. I hope the jewelry does turn up.

What a wonderful roller coaster ride this Day has been!
TODAY- Thanks The dept of public safety investigators at the hospital whom investigated the situation we were able to solve and resolve the jewelry issue! They Looked at video of my moms visit and saw her removing her jewelry and handing it to my aunt and she put it in her purse where they were able to see it must not have been lost there- and they checked the lost and found- thoroughly- we thanks them for all the time they took looking into the situation and as we headed back to my dads hospital room- we received a call from my aunt and although my aunt had emptied her purse twice at home and found nothing she handed it to her husband who did the same then turned it upside down and shook it and the bag of moms jewelry fell out!!!! Praise God! - so mom and i turned around went back to the er an profusely thanked the gentlemen for all their help and to let them know we just recovered it! We are very grateful for the time they took and impressed- monday morning im bringing a cookie cake by the er to offer thanks! So that was Great News! my dad has a tube still in his nose to his stomach and his throat hurts they give him pain meds through tube and unplug him till it kicks in for throat pain and no food for two days now now but getting water via iv -we walked the floor 6 times today - my tech daughter suggested he lie on his left side and massage his belly some to help bowels wake up. hes chewing gum - He has had some gas so some signs of waking i suppose-will definitely be in hosp. till monday for sure - They may take tube out tomorrow he's hoping so the noise it makes drives him crazy lol ! I told him it sounds like a balloon slowly being deflated - and we should record it and make ring tones! (he laughed) ๐Ÿ˜‰ he thought the pump noise was actually some construction workers working on building outside lol a till i pointed out it was his pump ๐Ÿ™‚ he also got more instructon on his ostomybag use and he emptied it himself several times today:) i got to see the stealth belt i saw on this site and sent him the info on- im so getting him some when he figures out what size works best for him -so overall it was a good day for dad! -I brought the nurses stations cookie cakes one for nightshift one for dayshift and thanked them for all their help with my dad! They really do a lot ๐Ÿ™‚ thanks to you all for riding this roller coaster with me ๐Ÿ™‚ stay tuned! Who knows what tomorrow will bring!

@formydad What an upbeat post to read early this morning! Yeah for finding the jewelry. Good job by everyone looking for it, and not giving up. Your dad has quite the journey to take now, and he surely is appreciating all you and the family are doing for him. Getting the body in motion again is so important in his recovery, as he is finding out. On behalf of medical people, thank you for acknowledging their jobs well done! I would always do the same thing, bringing them some treats. It means a lot to them. Wheee! roller coasters!
