Doctors mistake watch out.

On Monday l had stomach pain, hot flashes and dizziness. I thought it was my ammonia levels. Instead it was my appendix. When l went to the hospital and before surgery the surgeon explained how she was going to do the surgery. She asked all the regular questions about your medical history before the surgery. She didn't ask me about my shunts in my liver. Strange. I told her because l am very careful about it. So she tells me well don't die on me. Now l didn't want to do the surgery after she said that. So my family said you have to or it can bust and you will die. I understand all that. Then my daughter tells me someone told her that it was the first time at the surgery they did my TIP procedure. I was in shock, l smell a rat l said because everytime l have to go to the hospital or see the doctors at that hospital they always say l have a mental problem and l am depressed and so on. So while l was in the hospital there was three meds they didn't give me. I told them and they were in shock they overlooked that and l daught that. Then l was having problems breathing and l was calling the nurse 3 times. I told them you didn't give me my inhaler or my cpac machine. They really was scared. Then they asked me if l take oxygen because my l was having breathing issues and my oxygen levels went down while was sleeping. I told them no. So they gave me oxygen and a breathing treatment. I told them this wouldn't have happened if they would have read my chart and see l have a cpac machine and take 2 inhalers. And they also didn't give me my eye medication even when they asked me if l had glaucoma. I had to have an ultrasound of my neck. They said it was ok. Then when l was discharged the medicine l was allergic to for my liver they had it on my chart that l take it after telling them that and my hepatologist that see at the same hospital. It's crazy it not on the computers at the same hospital
So they were so scared they were hurrying me to be discharged. You talk about sorry medical systems and doctors. I could have died.Thank God for him being with me.

Here is a thought. Doctors today are dealing with a thought process that they know everything. What professor would know what they know. The old professor might give these high and mighty doctors some interesting information that they failed on and learned to do it the proper way.

My faith in doctors has to gone to the point that I WILL determine WHEN I am on Hospice , my care. At that point I do not need a doctor. They have messed me up so badly that I cannot even consider another procedure by a doctor. I went thru getting shots in my neck and back, for over a month, only to find out there was no med in the shots. They wanted to see how long the numbing agent helped me to determine what drug should finally be used. When it was over, my spine doctor sent me home with the name of CBD and to go on line and buy it. I did and it is doing something but not enough. When I found that out I was not a happy camper Do they not believe that we hurt? Do they think I am pretending to have back and neck pain? You have no idea how sick I am of the system using our insurance for ridiculous tests. I have RA and can hardly use my left arm.

I got my Medicare statement after my last hospital stay. I could not believe my eyes when I saw that the HOME NURSE and PHYSICAL THERAPIST show up and were paid over $5,000 to the company they work for. The nurse was horrible. They PT nurse, was told not to come anymore to my house as she was belittling me. The PT nurse they sent next, just talked and talked. But if anyone did anything good it was him. The nurse was a joke. I don't know if I should report it or not. I finally called them and said STOP your visits are a waste of time. That business is a SCAM.

Hang in there people. Just make you are your own advocate and always have someone else that your truly trust go with you to appts. I am living with pain that I have NO pain medication for. They ignore my calls. Except for my Primary. She knows me well and I would not ask for pain meds if I did not need it. So I will have meds by tomorrow. But, remember CUT THEM IN HALF. Oh my what next? I guess it is time for me to check out of this place. But, my life is in God's hands. Thank you Lord for being there while we all go through some tough times. Tough times brought on by a government trying to FIX another probem. SENIORS becoming addicts. I DOUBT that.

I unfortunately, have experienced the same negative, despicable actions from Physicians whom don't care about their patients whatsoever! You're right, we all have the right to stop treatment if it's better and if we have tried everything! I'm so sorry that you being treated so badly! Just know that my prayers are with you and that you are the boss of your own care, not the lousy providers!

@techi Hi, Lisa. That sort of treatment really takes the hope out of our medical systems, but it happens every day. for about 8 years I have been telling doctors that I have some sort of autoimmune that is eating up my insides. The Cardi here reported that I was a psycho, so the major clinic here refused to see me again. Now an independent Pharma (Ambrygen) now has diagnosed me with RYR2 and FKTN, plus others. One result of these is muscular dystrophy..Then a couple days ago I lifted my foot off the ground so I could get into my car. That sprained, pulled, tore my knee soft tissues. So I went to the ER. Told the doc. He basically said, "Take a couple aspirins and......." sent me home with a knee brace and a walker. "Call another doctor in a few days if you still have pain." Thinking of you. Karl.... It is a shame. We used to have the world's top care. They told my mother thru me, that my mom needed Psy help. I came close to hitting him. With hrs of his statement she was in surgery for colon operation. And they told me she had Panicious Aniema. That was 20 yrs ago. It's all downhill from there.

@oldkarl old karl thank you. I don't mean to grip but sometimes it just aggravates me because lm wouldn't treat people like that. We a should be treated with respect no matter if you as a professional feel you don't want to bother with the patient. And l guess l am a person that expect to much. Old Karl l am praying for you

I was having my normal problems with my ammonia levels high and the doctor gave me a new med because of my constipation not having 3-5 stools after taking lactulose 3 times a day. I had an allergic reaction and not able to get out of bed, confused and throwing up. That was on Saturday. So l had my doctors appointment on Monday, now l fell in his office. My husband called the hematologist and he wanted me to go to the hospital. I was vomiting again but before I got to the er. So l thought my ammonia levels were up again since it was 3days ago. After all the test, MRI of my brain everything was normal. I found out later my ammonia level was 22. Then the er doctor insisted l be admitted. I told her if everything is okay l want to go home. Then she insisted l stay again. So l agreed only for 2 reasons my insurance and my doctor saying l didn't follow his recommendation and if anything else go wrong it was my fault. I was admitted for 4 days. I saw the hematologist and the neurologist l fired 2yrs ago but l had to see him because he was the last neurologist. So l was having difficulty getting in and out the bed that of course you had to have bed alarms. So l asked every day how is my ammonia levels they said it was normal. I know had to have an ultrasound of my brain. Everything was normal. They gave me 2 medication l was allergic to and it was on my charts. So then l had a reaction or seizure l really don't know for sure. So on my discharge papers they said l was seen by 2 psychiatrists no one in my family was told that. Then when l was discharged l asked about my ammonia level. They took it just before l was discharged and it was only up by 1 digit. Now while l was in the hospital l called my mayo hematologist doctor and he told me to ask them to do a test to see if my one vein opened up more and the blood was flowing out more. Then didn't do it. He told me they probably wouldn't because you came to the mayo clinic and they found out one vein was slightly open. And my mayo doctor said if you have any problems to come back to him. So now since my diagnosis is only falling and psychiatric charges l have to make an appointment to go bbn ack to the mayo clinic. Oh also l was trying to text my daughter to bring me something for breakfast l showed the nurse and asked her was my text like a person who has hepatic encephalopathy because of confusion. She said yes. When my husband saw it he asked me are you writing in a different language. A waste of 4 days in the hospital. When a doctor misdiagnose you they all have to keep the lies going especially if it's a psychological problem as they think it is because they weren't right.

Yes l had an appointment at the mayo clinic with the gastroenterologist/heptalogist we discussed all the miss consisenties on my records. I told him l have diagnoses in autoimmune encephalitis, hepatic encephalopathy, cirrhosis of the liver with ascites, cirrhosis without ascites, and hep c. I explained to him that they just put diagnoses down and don't even collaborate their findings with me or the other doctors. Instead put boldly th as t you see various doctors for the same problems and the same diagnosis. When l told him that about these issues and l had documents with me plus others on my phone he was surprised. So he started to tell me no you don't have cirrhosis and ascites. He said you do have hepatic encephalopathy but some doctors will just see some of the symptoms of a patient who has cirrhosis and just lump you as having it. Which definitely makes sense to me l was right l didn't have it. I told l had a biopsy before my procedure and my doctor said l definitely didn't have it. That was the reason they did the procedure. He said that correct but to them you may have some of the same symptoms. You know l am seeing this happening to a lot of people even more now with the new cases of illness with the babies now with polio symptoms. And how so many parents are so confused and doctors ignoring their concerns and causing children and families in crisis. And everyone labeled depression, anxiety and mentally disturbed. No it's not that it's about being told the truth. If you don't know or have compassion you are in the wrong profession. A chart is a record that follows you whether it true or false and it definitely unacceptable not be changed if there is some consistency. I asked him if this could be taken off my record he said it depends on the doctors. I just thank God that whatever on my records he has erased and it can never be put back. Just something to think about snd mediate on.

Hi @techi,

You are absolutely correct – there is much more to being a good doctor than prescribing medications and doing diagnostic tests, They need to remember that patients are more than just the illness or disease, and that when a doctor shows compassion and empathy, they are already helping patients cope and feel better. I'm glad you got some clarity and explanation.

Thank you so much. I also Thank God for directing my steps to search for answers that l knew were always true. He told me to trust him not all the doctors because they are human and we know nobody except him knows everything. We are all different our bodies, minds, and what has gone one way doesn't always have the same results. We are seeing that every day with all these different illness coming up every day. And the doctors can't even keep their mines afloat. And when l was praying doing my research and listening to the doctor at the mayo clinic. He was trying to convey to me that every illness we face is a autoimmune disease because its attacking our bodies, so we really don't know so we do make mistakes. And l definitely believe that because we all make mistakes. We are not perfect but when you do don't just acknowledge it. But it happens all the time. And l thank God he puts people there to let you know it's not in your mine. I am reading a book th as t l wish l read before all these meds, tests and surgeries. It tells us about our bodies and the medical language doctors are using when talking to patients it would definitely saved my insurance millions of dollars. I hope everyone who is going through and illness would read or their family members. Because medication wasn't give since the beginning of time and our ancestors lived a whole lot longer. Can that be explained? Exactly they knew how to take care of their bodies and it was destroyed with all these meds. One med doesn't work for all. And it's not only meds. The writer also talks about food, stress, obesity, anger all these and many others effect our bodies. And l know my stress was mostly my disease and trying to get the doctors to listen. Thst hey wait my body is not like what you say. Good book. I pray this book will get out to everyone our world is crying for answers on how to get better before they lose all there resources or coverages. The book is "Healing Design" by Scott K Hannen DC. He's a chiropractor and he explains things so clearly. And how we can change the course of our reckless habits that's destroying our bodies and shows us how. But he always stresses to consult your doctor first snd l would say the same. But l pray that everyone trust God first because every day when l hear a young mother losing a child from a new disease my heart trust breaks no matter who child it is. And we have to feel for others.

My family member has high ammonia level 81. Been very aggressive and outbursts daily.
Was told the level of ammonia is what’s causing these episodes.
This is after hospitalization in Behavorial health center. Also been told his liver not working properly, put him on lactulose. Waiting now to see GI dr. How serious is this problem with ammonia?
