Tips for travelling with MAC

Posted by terryb1 @128128terry11t, Mar 6, 2018

Would appreciate any tips for traveling: How do you clean the aerobika and nebulizer? How do you handle weekly sterilizing? Can you just use a nebulizer (with saline solution) without an aerobika (one less piece of equipment to clean) along with a travel size compressor? Looking forward to hearing how all this is handled. Thank you.

I happen to be away doing the following for the first time: I asked my pulmonologist if I could do this (did not inquire for how long) and he replied that he would rather that I use an aerobika but had no problem with my doing this while on vacation. I am finding it so incredibly freeing! I just use a disposable nebulizer ($2.99 per unit), bring my saline, and my small compressor and away I go!!! For example, if I am away for 5 days, I bring 5 disposable nebulizers (all in individual small bags -easy to pack), I simply throw the nebulizer out when done. I no longer bring bowls, worry about having a microwave, purchasing distilled water for cleaning and rinsing, etc,, etc. Hope this is helpful. Please check with your doctor to make sure that he/she has no problem with your doing so.

@migizii This sounds like a wonderful way to travel! I’ve tried a variety of ways but I really like the disposable nebulizer! May I ask, where do you get them?

Just purchased the 3M N95 (20 count) mask from Amazon. Is there a more specific model recommended by Dr. Falkinham? Your advice is much appreciated.

I got my disposable nebulizers from justnebulizers.com. I believe that you can buy them individually, in a pack of 10, or a case of 50.

Hi Terry...that's the one that I use as well

Where do you find a N95 mask?

@tinaesims I believe the N95 mask is made by 3M. I buy mine at a paint store like Sherwin Williams (2 per pack) But it seems a better deal to buy carton of 20 on Amazon.

@128128terry11t Hi Terry. I never knew that disposable nebulizers even existed! I don't travel much, but I intend to soon.

@windwalker Terri, I had not heard of them either but I went to the site that Terry said she bought hers, justnebulizers.com, and bought a pack of 50 for $55.00 which makes them $1.10 a piece. That's so great because now I don't have to take a bowl and cleaning stuff when I go on a trip. I can just toss them. Thanks @128128terry11t !!!!

I purchased the Micro Mist disposable nebulizer set from justnebulizers.com. It is more expensive than the Vix One that you purchased The case of 50 of the Micro Mist costs about $85. Your Vix One only costs $55, which is terrific. I have one question: Does your Vix One come with the disposable tubing that is necessary to connect the nebulizer with the compressor? I didn't see the tubing on the picture displayed on the website.
