What happens if I go from 50 mg to 25 mg Metoprolol?

Posted by bohaiboy @bohaiboy, 8 hours ago

Hi all, I had an ablation about 5 1/2 weeks ago. I am still having some issues with AFIB. I also take Flecanide and Metoprolol (50 mg once daily). These drugs leave me really tired and fatigued. I had a post follow-up with my EP and he suggested cutting my Metoprolol by half. with a goal of getting off of it entirely. Have read some not so good reviews of trending it downward.

What can I expect? Will start it tonight and will closely monitor BP as well. See the EP again in two weeks.

I have tapered down several times in the last few years - started at 100 mg, then down to 75, then 50. I did not have any problems with any of those decrease experiences.

You might experience a short term increase in BP.
