I need to see a psychiatrist do to my meds not working on my severe anxiety disorder I believe I got from my mom. I'm sure he will prescribe benzodiazepines. I'm frightened to make the appointment. Does anyone have a suggestion for me?

I too have severe anxiety, probably inherited from both parents. The only thing that’s worked for me is Xanax. Ssri’s also did not work for me, just made me nervous.
Right now, benzos are the current “villain” drug, and I’ve encountered places that wouldn’t write them. I’m lucky to have a pcp who is willing to prescribe it. If your current Dr won’t, find one who will.
I’ve taken Xanax as needed many years, and I don’t seem to have cognitive issues at 71.

I get an upset stomach, diarrhea, heart palpitations, crying spell, I can't sit still, tremors, and I cannot concentrate. I am seeing a psychiatrist next month cuz it is affecting my life too much now. I do not know what to do. Social workers do not help. I hope you can find some relief. I do take Newton Laboratories Nervousness/Anxiety tincture and Life Seasons Mood Stability with food, easier on the stomach and it does help. I also take Stress Mints. Peppermint oil tincture has been a blessing for my upset stomach and diarrhea part of the panic attack.
