@parus It sounds like you are forming your own groups, groups that work for you.

Yes, I know what you mean about support groups being only as good as their leader. There are several book discussion groups in the local libraries near me. I don't go to one of them because the librarian who is supposed to facilitate - doesn't - so I found one where the librarian gives everyone a chance to share - that works better for me. I suppose my childhood background makes me easily frustrated when one or two people take over the conversation - makes me very uncomfortable!

@hopeful33250 Clarification. I endeavored to get others involved. Not interested and they thought coloring together was childish. Not into reading any more. I have read so many books I am burnt out. Spend the time I am physically able drawing and painting. I once wrote poetry. Since my time is limited as to what I can do I chose to paint. My children will not be pleased when they have to dispose of totes with art work. No, things are not thrown all about. I downsize frequently. I have seen the anger from other children when a parent dies and they have to clean up the mess. I don\'t want to do this to my children. I never have been sentimental, materialistic or a hoarder.
Kind of went off topic. Just discouraged. Talking nothing but recipes and clothes is not my thing.

I understand where you are coming from. Recipes and clothes are good, but I also need more than just that.

Just wondering....do you think your art work might be appreciated at a senior citizens apartment building? I\'m not sure if your physical or mental energy would be compromised, but could you teach art to seniors in a setting like a senior citizens facility? Just a thought.

Hi @parus
I also enjoy adult coloring books. I don\'t do it often so it takes me forever to finish a picture. I would be interested in doing a group. I live inWilmington NC. I\'m fairly certain nothing exists like this here. I wish I had a friend here to go out for coffee or something. Glad to at least have this support.

the most difficult thing about PTSD is knowing it will not go a way. I t grabs at times for no apparent reason. I get angry for no apparent reason. I destroy personal belongings for no apparent reason. Noise is overwhelming for no apparent reason. Is what it is. I am sorry for what others with this disorder go through. Like depression it is not going a way. Missing so much of life because of fears I cannot control, nor explain-no apparent reason.

@parus

I know what you're saying. It's surely a challenge to live with something that we know won't go away.

I rarely have a moment to post anything but your post moved me deeply, I have gotten "help" but at age 66 still so troubled daily by these issues of complex ptsd from earlier than 5 even, that have hijacked my life but I have made the most of it ultimately.. I encourage you to find help from true experts in the field, not someone that took a workshop or seminar on trauma and got certified to treat it. it can make you a better person, wiser, stronger, deeper, more compassionate, than most of those around you....blessings upon you....hold your head high. work with your body not just your thoughts and feelings.
