Vertigo
Hope all is well with everyone. I just finished testing with my primary and I do have vertigo. She said therapy may help relieve the dizziness. I do have pills to take to help some of the dizziness. Just wondering if this is common with people who have autoimmune diseases? Has any one done physical therapy for vertigo? Did you get good results?

Hi, A very good friend of mine had a flu shot and didn't know he had COVID at the time. He began having dizzy spells so severe he had to stop driving with his young son in the truck with him. His son, 11 yrs. old, had to try and flag someone down for help. My friend was rushed to the hospital . He began having the same type of symptoms you explain. After a few trips to the ER and appointments with several specialists he was diagnosed with POTS caused by the COVID. When he would change positions or try to stand up his heart rate would drastically increase and he would become critically dizzy. Then he was also diagnosed with Arythmia attacks caused by the long COVID and POTS. He was off of work for at least a year and gradually tried to return to work. He has occasional episodes now and I don't think he will ever be the same. It's been three years now. He's in his mid forties and was in incredible shape and exercised in his gym every day. He absolutely cannot have anything with caffeine in it. He has tried several meds although nothing has really helped.
I must say that he is about 75% better than he initially was. He's back to work full time and works ten hour days.
I wish you the very best! Take care ❤️

I'm glad he's doing better. I was diagnosed with PMR in March after having symptoms since October. My rheumatologist sent me to a hematologist/oncologist because of some flags on the blood work he ordered and I was also diagnosed with SMM a few weeks ago. I'm now in the process of a fast prednisone taper so that my SMM can be fully evaluated for risk.
@sfkak Now that's scary! I did fall a few years ago and bump my head--CT-scan showed no damage; however, dizziness is bad. Perhaps it is "eye related." I recently had cataract surgery (both eyes) but I guess that has nothing to do with an eye muscle. If I can remember to do so, I will mention this to my eye surgeon. Thanks.

2 Reactions@angels4everyone I have been dealing with debilitating vertigo for going on 3:years and this is something I have not heard of or considered. I will pay attention. I did have a pinch nerve. Also wondering if 5 g , TMJ (atlas bone was out), EMDR online (pt eye movements are similar), lack of hormones, lack of vit d and b, allergies, hashimoto's could be factors for me. Stress and heat make it worse.

I have had vertigo off and on for years, decades actually. I’ve also broken my neck, and experience dizziness when I move my head to look up at the sky or at other times.
I went to a natural Dr who told me to try the Epley Maneuver. It is game changing and cost was nothing. If I were you, I would at least try it? It may need to be repeated 3 times in a half hour ( procedure itself only takes about 2-3 minutes). If it doesn’t work, no harm done.. but if it does, then you have another tool in your belt of taking care of yourself.
There are different positions for the Epley Maneuver, I’m 63 and do the easiest one. It’s also called Somersault Maneuver for vertigo..
Best wishes!

2 ReactionsI have vertigo. There are two distinct types. It could be associated with an inflammatory virus, or it could be (BPPV ) "positional." That is the one I have. For that one the Epley Maneuver is a charm! It can take a couple days to get rid of it as I age. When I was younger, I only needed to do it once.
As I age I am careful about holding my head in an ergonomic position to the rest of my body. No long days holding my head down over an art table or phone.
