I am male 83 yrs of age. My doctor prescribed " amlodpine betsolate tablets 2.5 mg.
I have been having shortness of breath, when Ihave a quick walk. Recently I started using "Albuterol Ulfate inhalation aerosol 90 mcg.
My question, I would like request a stress test from my Doctor. How helpful is a stress test?.
By using the prescription, I have noticed on arms and hands when I get a hard bump, I recieve a reddish spots, some are 3 inches, to little dots. Would the prescription medicine have any thing to do with this.

Learn to meditate. After I retired from IBM,I studied being a massage therapist. Parts of some of the classes had meditation methods in them. It really lowers your BP.

@alrghty1 I notice you recently joined Mayo Clinic Connect, so welcome! I am glad to see you post a comment to get thoughts from other members about your shortness of breath and red spots on your skin.

I am not medically trained but do have thoughts. The combination of what you mention is familiar to me. I have been taking amlodipine and also started Albuterol for shortness of breath when my primary doc told me I had asthma. I don’t necessarily remember having any spots on my skin but I have had tiny pinhead type sores that would appear, sometimes stay as long as a couple days then disappear. Now that I read your comment I realize I have not seen any of these dots since discontinuing the amlodipine a couple months ago.

I switched doctors and my new doctor wanted to make sure asthma really was the reason for my shortness of breath. I am learning that this may be a point where further testing isn’t done and patients really may benefit from getting to the root cause of their shortness of breath.

Did you start all these medications around the same time? Have you had any pulmonary testing, and if so what did it indicate?

Thank you for responding to my posts.
You asked about a pomonary testing. Other then the testing thru doctor's stethoscope, and explaining when I am walking at a brisk pace.
Yes at the start of taking almondine. Actually its more like a brushing , people say they are liver spots. Any kind of bumping, or grazing aganits something.
I have check ups with my do ties, I have 2 primary doctor's. The VA,and outside of the VA.
I keep them both abreast of my problems.
I am going to set up a Strees Test. At my age its high maintenance, meaning, I am always of what my body is telling, abd see to it by telling the doctor's. I sleep well eat also well, I feel great.
I am not a "Thomas's English Muffin" with nooks and crannies, with health issues, LOL.
I will follow up , and post again.
Thanks for your feedback back. 😃

A little more info would be helpful. We are not medical professionals but there is a lot of history and experience. What is your age, weight, history with high bp, what does your physician say? Are you currently taking any bo meds and what other measures have you used or planning to use? Thanks

@vunde

I am not a medical professional. Have you seen or contacted your doctor to discuss this.

I would think that the first order of business would be to find out what's causing it and go from there. Hypercortisolism might be one cause.
