Stress and Parkinson's symptoms

Posted by esther589 @esther589, May 25 1:51am

I think my symptoms are increased when I feel stressed.
We currently have visitors staying close by and the pressure I feel to think about their needs every day as well as our own seems to be making my symptoms worse.
I've noticed it also when I go for hospital visits.
Do others experience this?

@esther589 Sometimes stress is a rational response to reaality. And you are a different person that you were before you brought Mr. Patkinson into your life,. ayou can't do some of the things that made you you. And you have to do other things that are new andnot at all what you're accustomed to. So just try to gt acquainted with the new you and do things that make sense as you adjust to this whole new world.

@esther589 You're absolutely right about that! We can't change our reality, but we can change how we respond to it. And sometimes you have to feel what you feel for as long as you need to feel it, , and when you get done with it, you can move on to something different, until you find something that makes sense. Some times we get stuff thrown at us that we did not order, and it's not fair (because I could list any number of folks who deserve a dance or two with Mr. Parkinson,) but I safisfy myself by believing that something worse lies ahead for him. And even with Mr. P lurking about,I know i wouldn't trade my troubles for anyone else's because there really are worse things. I have 5 cousins who have lost a child. Just thinking about that almost makes me want to bake a cake for Mr. P, So, sending you hugs from Berlin. The city's mascot is a bear so you'll be getting bear hugs to get you through whatever you have to get through. J

YES! Any type of stress makes all of my symptoms worse! It is impossible, of course, to eliminate all stressful situations, however I do my best to make & keep my life simple - a little boring, but it does help!

Has anyone found anything that helps address the mental "fight or flight" attacks brought on by stress - it seems when my husband tries to balance the bank account online or even play a game of checkers, - in a fact whenever he needs to focus - he gets a burning right temple around the eye and his feet burn. Docs say it is autonomic dysfunction of his body temperature regulation.

Yes, my symptoms are definitely worse when I'm dealing with insurance companies and the VA health care system. Getting appointments scheduled, getting approved for a specialist, dealing with artifical intelligence on the phone, all adds up and pushes all of my buttons. Symptoms increase every time for me when this occurs.

Boring is fine. I find that I sometimes need a few hours where nobody is asking anything of me to recharge. Sometimes I find this early in the morning. There was one time I was in the hospital over night for what turned out to a non-serious issue. But that definitely rested my mind - there's nothing to do in the hospital - and ironically, I felt great afterwards.
