Weird new symptom possibly connected to Epilepsy

Good afternoon,
I was curious if anyone has experienced similar symptoms that I’ve been experiencing recently. About two months ago I was in the grocery store walking along and a weird feeling in the back of my head began. This strange sensation began in the back of my head over the Occipital lobe and worked its way forward as far as my temporal lobe, The pain was mild and I don’t know how to describe it.
Almost immediately after the sensation began my legs became weak. The first time it happened I actually collapsed but I never lost consciousness was never confused. I wondered if they might be some sort of Atonic seizure (drop seizure). My primary care physician thinks my seizures may be evolving or that I may have a migraine syndrome of some sort so I have an appointment Wednesday to see the neurologist. I doubt he’ll know what is going on but he probably won’t admit it, nothing like having confidence in your doctor, lol.

@jeffery I went about 15 years without seizures after the neurosurgeon removed the focus of my epilepsy from the center of my brain. Lately I've noticed that I've developed twitching in my hands. I did have a grand mal seizure about a year ago. I feel like my epilepsy is coming back? I may need some serious testing re: my epilepsy soon, before it gets worse.
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 4 years ago. My blood sugar level was at 25. The endocrinologist put me on Gliclazide and my blood sugar went down to 5 or 6. Weeks later, I discovered my libido was gone. Has anyone else had this side effect with Gliclazide? I need to be put on a safer diabetes medication. I'm 70 Y.O.

@jeffery I've noticed lately that I too almost feel like I'm about to drop to my knees. I used to have epilepsy but had surgery to remove the focus of it from my brain in 1992. I've been virtually symptom free ever since. But I wonder if my epilepsy is coming back. I've also noticed that I often have tremors in my hands. I'll have to let my neurologist know about how my body is reacting. I'll encourage him to do an extended EEG on me to get to the bottom of this. I trust the medical profession.

I see you've recently joined our group on Connect — how nice that you found us, welcome!
I can understand your concerns, but let's not think about the worst. There may be other explanations worth exploring before drawing conclusions. I see you've also joined the Diabetes & Endocrine group on Connect and have already started a discussion over there on side effects from Gliclazide — well done for taking that step!
It's great that you already have in mind contacting your neurologist. I'd also encourage you to contact the endocrinologist who prescribed your diabetes medications.
Apart from that tonic-clonic seizure a year ago, have you experienced other seizures, such as auras or complex partial seizures? When was your last EEG done? Have you also been taking any anti-epileptic medications for seizure control?

I went 10 years with controlled epilepsy and started to get aura feelings and small twitches. So changes can happen. I was prescribed a second medication and it helped sort of but didn't stop it all the way and I was referred to Mayo for an extended eeg and they found that I was having a more seizure activity than I even felt.

I'm so sorry to hear that, and I can well understand how frustrating it can be to have seizures again.
Has your doctor made new considerations after what your latest EEG displayed?

I ended up spending a week in the EMU at The Mayo Clinic to track down the most likely spot seizures were originating from and found the best care I could have. Surgery and med changed have my Epilepsy well controlled.

It's been 2 years with a temporal resection. It was difficult but worth it.

@nitsuait never heard of removing focus from the brain, so you were 50 when you had the procedure, was it equated with other symptoms then seizures?

The focus is an area in the brain where abnormal electrical activity begins therby causing a seizure. Usually it's one specific area but some people have multi focal epilepsy which is more difficult to control if controllable at all. Also because it often is intractable the risk of S.U.D.E.P. (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) may be a greater risk.

@micheljmarion198 This Michel writing in regards to my side effect to Gliclazide. My GP has decided to cut my dosage in half to 80 mg.\day. After 1 week or more she will see whether there is any improvement in my reaction. BTW— I am also now on a supplement that may help me with these issues named "Vigortrix." It is meant to be a male enhancement formula. You might want to Google search this formula to learn more about it? Their web site sounded promising. I've been on it for just over 1 week and have noticed some improvement in my sexual interest. I pray that it works as promised.
