Breather
Hello.
I'm definitely a night person having worked 2nd or 3rd shift many years. The problem is I'm also an early bird.
When I'm in bed by 10 pm that's a win.
Here I sit reading about the Breather.
Very interesting.
After reading I come to my favorite place for information.
Has anyone tried the Breather?
Thanks to all of you.
Does anyone else get busy at night?
The only thing I don't do now is vacuum at night.
Recently moved out of home into Senior apartments so now I have neighbors.

Yes I use it daily and I really think it has strengthened my lungs. I have my own routine where I use it for 10 - 20 breaths in the morning and the same in the evening. Takes too long if you use it the way the instructions say to and I get the same results. It is very effective!

2 ReactionsThis is neither an endorsement nor a recommendation, but curiosity led me to look this up.
For those who may be unfamiliar with "The Breather" you can read about it here:

I also confirmed that you can sterilize it in 70% alcohol, but DO NOT boil.
For those of you using the device, how do you clean and sterilize yours?

2 ReactionsI soak mine in soapy water and once per week in bleach water. Don’t put in a bottle sterilizer like me or it will warp. Also this is really for strengthening your lungs/breathing but in doing so it makes it easier along with my aerobika and nebulizer to do airway clearance. My pulmonary doctor said my lungs are very strong for having Bronchiectasis and contributes it in part to my routine. Plus it is exercising your lungs so it also helps oxygen.

Thanks for posting.
I'm going to try the huff cough maneuver they show in video.
@tree1964 by the site posted there are three different kinds of breather. Which one do you use.
I use the blue one on the hardest level. I could probably go up to a harder one but I wanted to be able to use it consistently and comfortably.
I have never heard of the Breather and wonder why doctors haven’t recommended it more. I hesitate to add another step to my breathing routine but would love some more help with my shortness of breath. Has anyone seen improvement for SOB after using the Breather?
@maryjanechilds I too hesitate to add anything more to my routine - and would not do it before I consulted my pulmonology team. After reading about it, I am not convinced that it would be an improvement over using the Aerobika and exercising.

1 ReactionI understand your caution, particularly if you feel you are managing well right now. I was sick every other month and desperate for an answer so it was a Godsend for me. We are entering our hot, humid Georgia summer and last year was an endurance contest for me as my breathing is compromised by heat and humidity. I am anxious to see if with the addition of Brinsupri I handle things better. I know you are able to escape the heat and the cold (how wonderful!) but my husband and I care for my 98 year old mother so will ride it out here again this year. Fingers crossed Brinsupri continues to deliver.
