@hraka13 sound advice from someone. I use the breathing techniques they help if you practice even with small cases of anxiety. Wishes to you and have a blessed day today 🙏

@randallshields56 My daughter on occasion will remind me bout breath dad and that sets me to try many ways to settle down, start easy and then to the harder ones till i get calmed down. some are easy some aren't.

@malebreastcancer47, it’s not that easy. Anxiety attacks can be caused by external stress but often we don’t know why we’re having an attack. I get them most often from loud noises or people yelling (fighting) near me. It’s from my PTSD. I try to avoid what I know can cause me stress but I can’t avoid everyone or everything. We learn ways to get thru the anxiety and, with time, we might not react the same way.

@hraka13, I have PTS reactions from sirens passing by me. Like I said, we can’t avoid everything that triggers us; we can only learn how to lessen the effects.

Once in awhile I just crawl under the covers, pull them over my head, eliminate every noise, close my eyes and breathe. I don’t (can’t) try to figure out what is trigger(s)right then because I’m too frantic to be analytical. Maybe not a sophisticated approach but it works.

I tend to get anxious every day: sweaty, trembling, out of control thoughts, etc. Is there any recommendations to help with this?

Hi, @gseaborn - as people in this discussion were talking about a very similar topic about seeking tips for dealing with anxiety, I've moved your post here:

- Anyone have high anxiety? What do you do to help? https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/any-one-have-high-anxiety/

Hoping members in this discussion such as @westwoman3698 @bobrogers @hraka13 @johneckenrode11 @randallshields56 and others will have some input for you, gseaborn, in dealing with getting sweaty, experiencing trembling and having out of control thoughts and more from anxiety.

gseaborn - have you found any techniques that calm you at all when you feel like this? What do you typically do when these types of symptoms come over you?

@gseaborn Reiki energy work has helped me with panic disorder. The practitioner or preferably a Reiki master will place their hands on areas of the body that harbor anxiety and lift the discomfort. I would read about it on line or check out library books to understand why this helps. There are numerous Reiki Masters around the world. Another powerful modality is SHEN emotional release therapy. It usually takes more than one session. Each session is about and hr long on a massage table. $50 to $100 a session.

@lisalucier When these things happen I usually just try to lay down. It helps the most.

@david707 I tried SHEN emotional release therapy as a child it was emotionally draining and made me suprisingly even more anxious. I'll have to think about Reiki in the future.
