Atrial tachycardia and leg weakness in the mornings
For several years, I’ve noticed in the mornings when I get up I’m really weak my legs feel funny like I can’t walk and I really have a hard time. Doing yardwork or garden work. I get really exhausted easy found out after wearing a heart monitor I have atrial tachycardia
My dr doesn’t seem to be worried about it said she could start me on a low does beta blocker but I don’t want to take that if it’s gonna make me feel worst I’ve always had a low heart rate and it said that beta blockers can slow your heart down so I don’t need that also in the mornings I feel awful my legs are weak
I am fatigue and if I try to do any yard work my heart goes crazy
Anyone else have these kind of symptoms?

Are you seeing a cardiologist? A slow heart rate can affect what your feeling but is that rate something you have always had. If so then what you are feeling now is a change and that needs to be addressed.
If you are doing light to moderate yard work and you feel fatigue and heart goes crazy that is something a cardiologist needs to determine if a concern. If medications are recommended there are plenty out there that can be taken to address your concerns with them.

2 ReactionsYes, I too have had adverse reactions to drugs prescribed for A-Fib ... the Cardio-Physician-Assist. I was sent to prescribed Warfarin - it made me feel like I was 'a Space Cadet' ... I can only describe as "An Out-of-Body experience" ... I'd say to Myself, "Who Are You? Where Am I - Have I gone? I Don't Feel like ME." When I reported back to the P.A., the way she looked at me l felt like she thought I was "exaggerating" ... (disbelief)! She Even Said, "I've prescribed Warfarin to dozens of patients & I've Never Heard THAT Before!' (Would you say she was essentially calling me a Liar?)
When I saw my Dr. of Internal Medicine & told her about my experience, her response: "Are You Married to that Cardio-Group? I'd like to suggest referring you to another Cardio-Group." The New Cardio Practice scheduled me with A DR. (as opposed to a P.A.) The Cardiologist listened, worked with me, & after trying 3 other prescriptions finally found one that was compatible with My body-chemistry, i.e. No Intolerable Side Effects!!!

1 ReactionI am new here and have a few questions. My husband has AFib, he now has a,pacemaker implementation. He is on Eliquis 5mg twice a day, metoprolol 50mg 2x a,day, amiodarone hcl 200mg twice a,day. Is this normal? He also gets a,pain in the neck area and redness in the face and ears when in AFib. Normal? He has been given 4 months to live. Advice? Suggestions?

2 Reactions@3monkeys Whatever the cause, this sounds overwhelming. It’s hard to understand the dire prognosis given the info you’ve shared but plz push your husband’s caregivers for info until you do indeed understand. Hugs

The medications he are given are common for AFIB. All of us have different side affects when in AFIB. Some don't feel anything. Many like me have very noticeable side affects.
Why was your husband given 4 months to live? Having AFIB is not a death sentence and he is on specific medication to deal with AFIB side effects. Quite frankly is quite common these days to have AFIB especially later on in life.
Has you husband had a heart attack, has heart failure, other medical condition that would give him such a defined months to live diagnosis?
For me I have had heart failure for over 26 years. I have AFIB on and off for about 20 of those years. I recently had tachycardia which my ICD/Pacemaker shocked me and will have ablation on LV in June.
@jc76, that is what I'm trying to find out. Why 4 months. He hasn't had a heart attack, but is very weak, can't walk from one room to another, his legs give out. Having problems controlling his heart rate and blood pressure. His doctor suggested Hospice. I am stressed as I am his caregiver 24/7.

Should not have to "find out." Should have been told. Suggest a second opinion.
Have you contacted organization like senior assistance? They can help with care giving, transportation, and some have like day care where you can bring your husband. I am not sure how much he can do but things like card playing, puzzles, could help.
Not knowing his medical history (nor should I) hard to steer you to what specialist would be beneficial for him. If heart, cardiologist, if other seek a specialist. Also reach out to senior assistance they can help not only your husband but provide support for you too.
