Anyone been prescribed Ohtuvayre (new med)? Your experience?

Posted by kdalda75 @kndaustin71, Oct 18, 2024

Has anyone been prescribed the new COPD medication by their treatment team....Ohtuvayre? Just wondering if it now active, how it is effecting patients and how well it does/doesn't work

I have stage 4 copd and I'm on oxygen 24//7 also. I take this medicine two a day as prescribe by my doctor, it seems to open my lungs, you just have to keep using it, for it to work. I feel a lot better now. I use the Ipratropium Bromide and Albuterol Sulfate 3 times a day, and I use the Ohtuvayre twice a day once in the morning and a night before I go to bed, at first I was having trouble with it but I called the company that I get it from and the told me have to use.
You just have to give it a little while before you feel the difference.

@sexy17 how did they tell you to use besides the instructions of 2 x a day? I was on 3 months and I think it made my breathing worse, but?

I used it as directed, morning and evening. At first I had no change, but about three weeks into it, I started having more shortness of breath and fatigue. I read on the Mayo Clinic support site that some others had also had negative reactions, but I continued taking it for several more weeks. I spoke with the company pharmacy department when I discontinued it. I will be interested to see how the data comes after the med has been on the market for another year or so. Other than the Ohtuvayre I'd been having no negative effects of my treatment or meds for the past four years, and after I was off the Ohtuvayre, my status returned to "normal" for my conditions.

@ravenup Did you post after your 30 days? I am hesitant to try. I am stage 4 and on oxygen 24/7. I do not cough, in fact I always feel my lungs are dry. Will this make it worse? So far I have not read that anyone was worse, just no better. Please post an update!

@eastwestnorthsouth the Ohtuvayre made my situation worse using only couple of weeks and I stopped but never got back to where I was. I’m finding supplements that are helping me more than the drugs. Check out Cayenne oil, Oregano oil, Clear lung capsules and using a BiPap to get rid of the carbon dioxide that builds up in the lungs. I’m on oxygen 24/7, use a nebulizer with Albuterol and Ipratroprian(sp), 20mg Prednisone daily. It’s hard but I find the more I sit, the worse it gets. https://youtube.com/watch

Ktf! What a great find.......Ohtu=02! Very subtle! I will search to see if I can find a site that will explain the different methods of pulmonary toileting. Being a 45 year veteran nurse helps a lot too! The congestion is the worse ever that is why some of the methods in conjunction with inhalers and nebulizers help and coughing continually is exhausting. The Ohtuvayre, jfsherley, is delivered via jet nebulizer twice a day. It is specifically intended to reduce secretions in a different manner (system) than Dupixent . The studies showed favorable results and was approved in June of July by the FDA. Marketing and availability through specialty pharmacies since September.

Yes, I was some prescribed ohtuvare and it’s making my lungs better. My oxygen is going up to 100% and I’m go off Oxygen and I stay at about 95% and I can breathe and I only need to use it one time per day because it causes me to have trouble falling asleep at night it gives me lots of energy and I feel better and I don’t have a history of mental illness and I’m very happy it makes me really happy not sad or depressed, but I have been able to go without Oxygen and go outside and be free again and I stopped smoking a year ago and I’m getting better and I think it’s the owner of there because I was allergic to the Anora and the trilogy was dropping my oxygen down 35 levels cause I’m allergic to milk protein so my insurance company but it’s $4000 for the owner there but my United Healthcare policy pays $2700.13 and then yeah and then there’s a $300 deductible. OK go ahead.

@lisa4trump when i was using it, i don’t think it hindered my sleep at all and I have insomnia.
but glad it helped you. didn’t realize you could only use 1 time per day if wanted. assumed you had to use 2 times to be effective. I thought it made my breathing worse, but maybe it was something else so am going to restart.
