I’d like to be able to call my husband ?
I wonder if anyone knows of a phone for a person in a memory care facility?

I like Razz the most, but you'll know better which phone will be most helpful for your husband. It's pricy. https://www.razmobility.com/product/raz-memory-cell-phone-verizon/

Great idea. There is a phone with no dial that you could glue your photo to.

1 Reactionsusanpremo, I've purchased phones on ebay with good success. But the Razz might not even be the best one for your husband. I imagine that there are Razz phones on resale. They are probably a good bet--slightly used.
Best wishes.

1 ReactionHello:
I will respond based on my experience during lockdown.
My Mom was in a Memory care facility during lockdown, so we couldn't visit in person. The staff would put my Mom on the facility's phone and help with the call. They would walk away a bit to allow for private conversations.
If you don't want to buy a phone for your husband, maybe staff at his facility could help get calls set up using one of their phones? Just an idea. All the best. 🪻

1 ReactionIs there a way to make an iPhone simpler to use? I’m going to the Apple Store to find out.
My husband has been in Memory Care since Monday. Doing well depending on staff but for the most part acclimating well.

2 ReactionsOne of the things that happens with dementia is that the patient loses the ability to sequence actions. This skill is integral to using an iPhone or any phone that has sequential steps in order to use it. eg. Go to this screen first, then tap on this icon, then another page shows up where you have to make another choice. If you can't remember the sequence of steps you cannot use the phone. My husband would tell me that his phone was "broken" because he couldn't figure out how to make calls on it. He was not able to sequence the steps properly. I bought him a simpler phone made for older people. But because that phone also had to be worked in steps, he couldn't use that one either. I think the best suggestion was mentioned above and that is to set up something with the staff either using their phone or one you buy for him but leave with them so they can dial you up and hand him the phone. Less frustrating, I think, for him and you.

3 ReactionsI bought him one that was made for memory issues too, that was awhile ago and, yes, he couldn’t do it, it was a stupid phone! I think I will go ahead and get him one and ask the staff to hold onto it. Thanks you!

2 ReactionsI don't know if this would work for you, but I can recieve phone calls on my Apple Watch (with a cellular plan $10/mo). Just needs to be able to tap a green "button" (icon) to answer.
