I will respond based on my experience during lockdown.
My Mom was in a Memory care facility during lockdown, so we couldn't visit in person. The staff would put my Mom on the facility's phone and help with the call. They would walk away a bit to allow for private conversations.
If you don't want to buy a phone for your husband, maybe staff at his facility could help get calls set up using one of their phones? Just an idea. All the best. 🪻
