Orgovyx prices world wide

Posted by oldgreenpaint @oldgreenpaint, Apr 6 7:45am

So I am done with ADT. I took Firmagon, and since administered as an outpatient it is covered in Medicare Part B. Had I had my way, I would have chosen Orgovyx, but the prices I was aware of put it at each tablet being about $90. Just for fun I did some searching and found it available from foreign pharmacies for as low as $10 a tablet. If you don’t have drug insurance, and want Orgovyx this may be a good option and worth checking Into. https://www.pharmacychecker.com/orgovyx/

It would be $90 a pill if you paid full price, But insurance usually covers at least 80-90% or so of the cost. Even if it was $90 a pill the maximum $2100 limit for Medicare payments for prescription drugs Would have resulted in you only paying $70 per pill the first month if you had to pay the full amount. It would then cost nothing for the rest of the year.

My Orgovyx is essentially free all year. I get my prescription for Darolutamide First and it cost around $2100. As a result, my second prescription for Orgovyx is free. Orgovyx cost more than $400 per pill. I pay $70 the first month.

I meant to say that Nubeq is $400 a pill not Orgovyx.

I am very fortunate. 1st month of orgovyx cost me $125.00. With all my other meds that put me over the top and my next refill will be $40.00. I have United Healthcare Medicare Advantage.

A new diagnosis of a serious illness like prostate cancer is hard enough without all the form filling, approval seeking, etc. and associated stress.

Some day, I hope, we will live in a world where the cost of essential medication is no more of an issue than the cost have having the fire or police department respond to an emergency at your home.

But most countries, including my own (Canada), aren't there yet. At a minimum, they make us jump through hoops before they'll cover the more-expensive meds like Erleada. 😕

We haven’t paid anything here for Orgovyx (BC, Canada).
The hospital pharmacy fills the prescription and gives it to my husband. I believe that BC Cancer covers it, so I don’t know what it would cost otherwise.
We haven’t paid for any of the medications to date as they have been covered through our provincial healthcare, pharmacare, or cancer agencies.

Absolutely - the last thing people need to worry about when they are facing treatment is how they will pay for it (or not).

Many times when I was an active Episcopal priest, I would help people pay for the or prescriptions so they could eat, get diapers, etc. I was standing in line to pick up one of my prescriptions one day, and the elderly woman in front of me was crying and talking to the person behind the counter. I was not trying to eavesdrop, but I heard her say to the person behind the counter “Oh my, that is so much, but I guess I don’t have to eat all that much for the rest of the month.” The script was costing her $300.00. I immediately stepped forward and told the woman behind the counter to put that woman’s medication‘s on my debit card. It happens all the time. We need to get this fixed.

I agree with the “fixing” part. A simple law that says no United States drug producer can charge United States citizens anymore than what their lowest price is for the same drug overseas would be simple to do. Instead the current law seems to prohibit United States citizens from procuring the same prescription drugs from out of the states pharmacies. To me that seems criminal.

@oldgreenpaint Why? Don't you know all us Americans are rich?? :).

I don't get it either. I really feel bad for those with any form of cancer with no health insurance. It's almost a guaranteed death sentence. I would have no problem with paying the lowest price the big pharmaceuticals get for overseas pricing.

@chipe Even the EU struggled with this: pharma companies had been charging different prices in different countries, but with the 1990s Schengen agreement (open borders and common currency for a subset of the EU), people just started ordering meds not covered by their national healthcare programmes from wherever it was cheapest, e.g. Germans would order from Spain.

Not sure if/how they ever dealt with that.

I actually order some OTC meds from Europe which are here Rx (???) - that is another insane thing !

If the whole Europe and Australia have some allergy eye drop OTC why is it here in the USA by prescription only _ oh we know why LOL

This particular medicine was costing me $ 150 here, and it is about 13 Euros in Nederlands or Spain. TEN TIMES CHEAPER !

I guess this thread will be blocked soon (as always)... XP
