Benign carcinoid tumor in bronchi tube

Posted by jessie1990 @jessie1990, Oct 30, 2025

Hi I've been diagnosed with a benign typical carcinoid tumor in my bronchi tube in right lung was found when I went to A&E with pneumonia back in July of this year I've had 2 bronchoscopys 2 biopys which showed benign carcinoid tumor I was sent for ct scan mri scan and pet scan pet scan was clear I was put under general anesthetic as my lung specialist said he might be able to remove tumor by going down my throat instead of haven surgery but didn't work but he was able to take 40% of tumor out as it was blocking my air way that's how pneumonia set in the 40% he removed also came back benign carcinoid 1 lymph node was removed and checked also clear now I need surgery to remove the rest I'm so confused as doctor said its a benign tumor then Google is telling me it's a low grade cancerous tumor but doctor nor lung specialist said anything about cancer just said its benign doesnt benign mean non cancerous and can any one tell me how surgery went thank you bless you all xx

@jessie1990 Oh my goodness Jess. So they went through your back? Did they use a robot? What are you getting for pain now? I'm assuming they put staples on the inside too (?) It's the separation of the ribs that the 2nd doctor feels is giving me the pain I've had all these months. It messed up some nerves. Have you gotten much of a report from your doctors (like how many lymph nodes they removed?) I have 5 incision scars, and they used glue. Yours looks so much worse. I'm sorry. At least this phase is over. How is your anxiety? Thinking about you...💕🙏

@nannybb yes through my back oh my God the pain is unbearable at the moment no robot they had to do open they removed my lower lobe and middle lobe so I only have top lobe left think they said they took 3 or 4 lymph nodes I'm not really sure ❤️

@jessie1990 Well, that totally explains the epidural AND the general anesthesia. How in the world do you lay in the bed? On your other side?

@jessie1990 That's a big booboo. Good thing that it is on your back. You have to make an effort to see it. It isn't worth the effort. Now it is time to heal. Hopefully the worst of it is now behind you.
