Oral lichen Planus: What home remedies or medications help you?
Anyone in the group suffer from Oral Lichen Planus. I am at my wits end with all these erosive sores in my mouth. I've had two biopsies , one in the inside cheek and one under the side of my tongue. The spot under the tongue is extremely sore to touch and has been for over a year. It scares me because the soreness never goes away, sometimes it isn't as sore but nothing helps. Any home remedies for this dreadful condition?

Hi Microgirl. I've been searching for anyone who has had periodontal treatment for OLP. I'm planning to do LANAP, which sounds similar to what you did - cleaning the roots of the teeth, but I'm concerned about healing post treatment. How did this go for you after the root cleaning? Thanks for your post!

I'm very interested in how things are going for you. I have several gold fillings and have read these may be the cause of my OLP but the dentists say no. Since this is a mysterious AD, how do they know. Did you get your metal fillings replaced? Do you think it helped? Thanks for any info you can give.

Yes and it's incredibly frustrating. I think it may be due to metal in my mouth, specifically gold, but until I have it all removed, I won't know for sure. Did you figure anything out?

Thank you for this idea. I went onto the NuMedica website and it seemed like you have to be a professional to order this. I really appreciate your comment about licorice and will probably order some of that through Starwest Botanicals to see if I can get any relief from using licorice as a rinse, or create a paste with coconut oil and licorice. How were you able to order the Glutamed OTC? Thanks.

I would love to hear more about the laser treatment that you received. It's great to hear this was successful. I'm planning to do LANAP which is a laser treatment for periodontal disease, which I believe is a side effect of OLP. Your post has given me hope. Thank you.

2 Reactions@jeraberkana Glutamed is not an RX. I got it from a local pharmacy that sold Numedica products. Might have been behind the counter. However it does contain stevia which I was highly disappointed about since I’m allergic to it. Also if you have hay fever or allergic to ragweed you would be allergic to stevia. It might be available at the A store. Im still dealing with mine. On steroids. Ugh. Still using coconut oil & lidocaine rinse which is RX. It’s gone way down with not working high stree job. Best to you.

1 ReactionIt sounds like you’re under a lot of distress and the things that you’re using are not working so well. You know it can’t hurt to try rinsing your mouth with salt water one or two times a day. with salt maybe two times a day or one time a day because salt lowers the inflammation and I don’t think it would be harmful but check with your doctor first!!! I hope you feel better soon!!!
@laurelsorensen YES thank you so much my PT is letting me use her red light lamp so I’m very excited and hope I get the same results .
How long did it take to go into remission. I assume you used it again after the flare? Did you use the same protocol? Did it work? Any other tips would be helpful and appreciated. This is like a spotlight on a 3 ft stand.
