Prolia treatment for osteoporosis: What is your experience?
I received the results from my bone test and they have recommended I start Prolia. I have read the side effects and I am concerned. Has anyone use this drug and if so what side effects have you experienced. Thank you

I had two shots and I want to go off it. Any suggestions?
@swim4ever: From what I understand, getting off Prolia is not that easy without risk. I would consult your physician, or find one who understands your isssues. Despite all our suggestions here, few if any of us are doctors, and so take the advice with caution.
I had 3 shots and went off of it. I haven’t met a Dr. yet Who is knowledgable about this drug. I’d rather take the risk than live my life with horrible lower back and hip pain that I never had before the shot. The orthopedic surgeons say my hip and lumbar spine look great on MRI. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️That’s just my experience. Look at all the other posts in this forum. Good luck to you.
Has anyone started prolia who is currently getting immunotherapy? Just want to know if side effects of taking both meds. I have lots of joint pain from immunotherapy and was reading prolia causes joint pain as well. Not sure I can endure much more joint psin!
Did you go on another drug after stopping Prolia? My fourth shot was due a month ago, and I have decided I just can't continue with it. With the potential for rebound fractures, I feel trapped. With most medications, I review the potential side effects and experience none of them. With Prolia, I can tick off quite a few on the list. Just recently I have started experiencing jaw pain, which is really scaring me.
I'm not getting another shot and I'm going to monitor my calcium and D levels. I'm starting some light weights to add to my routine. Im going for an herbal evaluation today to check on everything I put into my body meaning vitamins and herbs .
I have been getting prolia shots for 5 years along
with 50,000 mg of vitamin D a week. My DexScan is worse! It’s now -3.1 and they can’t revise my surgery because my bones are too soft. I had the surgery Nov 14th it has failed because my bones aren’t strong enough to hold hardware. So 5 years of Prolia did me no good at all.
Im so sorry to hear this. I hope and pray something will work out for you
I have been on Prolia shots twice a year for 5 yrs. The DexScan is worse I’m at -3.1 I’ll be seeing encronoligist hopefully soon.
I have had one shot of Prolia. Not sure I want to continue because my osteoarthritis pain is getting worse and seems to be spreading to more parts of my body. I don't know if Prolia is contributing to the joint and muscle pain, which is a side effect. I also don't get that it can cause increased fractures when the drug is supposed to be strengthening your bones. I probably need to force myself to exercise instead.
