AREDS 2 and side effects

I forgot to include this in my previous reply; fresh fruit in my area was only “safe” in the summertime because I purchased from local farmers; during the winter the fruit came from knows where . It seemed that when I purchased in the grocery store it was a hit or miss deal so that’s why I started doing the sway test. This was all back in the 1990s and I just got into the habit of testing food and supplements before I took them. It was so long ago maybe they don’t use chemicals like they used to?? But I still use it to this day because it has been helpful even for makeup, meats etc Maybe I’m just stuck in my old ways and habits…… it has always been a good “ guidance system” for me🌻

I had the same problem. My doctor told me to try taking the vitamin “with a good meal,” and that eliminated the side effects.

I had the same - but Dr said to try the older Areds ( not 2) - get on line and it doesn’t make me sick - I still take it with food, and can only take one a day usually due to size. But they only help about 2% anyway he says /so I do what I can. Luck!!

My Areds 2 says to take it with a meal containing oil/fat. After about two years of taking it, I have not had any side effects.

Hi Everyone, I found this thread while googling PreserVision Areds2 side effects. My husband took this for the first time yesterday and broke out in an itchy rash all over his body and his lips swelled. Maybe it was an interaction with other drugs he is taking. Benadryl helped it from progressing, but his lips are still swollen and the rash is still there.

I take the chewable Areds 2. I had great difficulty swallowing those huge tablets.
They don't taste great, but much better than the tablets.

Yes, same thing here. A couple of years ago I found some in gummy form and they didn't upset my stomach. But, I have yet to find them these days. I've checked online but didn't see any gummies for areds2.

I had to stop all other vitamins when I started Areds2 and am now doing fine. My side effect was a terrible upset stomach.

My RS said this was bogus, that the study was funded by the genetic testing people.
