Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain?
Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain? I've had 2 doctors push this on me. I know that the side effects can be terrible and getting off of it difficult as it requires titration. One time I remember taking one pill, and not liking the way it made me feel, so not taking any more, and still feeling the "weirdness" from it 2-3 days later. and that was only 30 mg Please pass along any experience or advice from this medication?

Hi. I was given a prescription for Cymbalta too. I haven’t started taking it. Did you feel weird in the beginning? I’m on a different antidepressant, and will be slowly going off of that & will be on cymbalta. I have very painful neuropathy & numbness in my legs & feet. Im borderline diabetic.
I also have Fibromyalgia & Chronic fatigue.
I need to walk but I’m in so much pain and my balance is way off. It’s a catch 22. Very frustrating… I hope you are doing better. 😊
Thanks. I agree. The less meds the better. I have to take a blood thinner because I had a pulmonary embolism 1 yr ago. It came out of nowhere. I was sick for a month & went to 4 different Drs. No one diagnosed me correctly until I ended up in the emergency room and could not breathe. It was a nightmare.
Trying to get off of Effexor has been a problem too. I’m Glad you are off the Antidepressants. My Dr wants me to take Cymbalta instead. I don’t want to be on anything. I’m used to being in pain. I just live with it.
I fell & Fractured my back 2 yrs ago. I already had back problems, degenerative disc disease & scoliosis. I have had Fibromyalgia for 30 years, Chronic fatigue & migraines etc. I also have very painful neuropathy Not diabetic It’s not fun growing old. I haven’t been the same since I broke my back. Take care

1 ReactionI’ve taken Duloxetine 60mg for almost two years. Absolutely no problems with it. If it is what is keeping my pain from FM, CF, nerve pain from diabetic neuropathy and pinched nerves in my back from an accident, then I will continue taking it. I’m still 5 pain level every day but that is a relief from 10+ before. I don’t think Duloxetine has anything to do with my headaches and migraines but I take Magnesium Citrate for that. It also helps my RLS. Anything to lower my pain is good in my book. I just upped Pregabalin to 100mg in morning and 200mg at bedtime. I am finally sleeping more than 3 hours a night. The RLS, neuropathy, nerve pain, arthritis bone and muscle pain disappears as I drift off to sleep. Such a joy as I have spent so many years going 3-4 days without sleep and then only getting a few hours of Benadryl or sleeping pill induced sleep. I do feel tired during the day and am told to take naps but I find daytime sleeping difficult to do. Going to try it though. I’m 70 years old and I have read that seniors should nap during the day as nighttime sleeping becomes harder to do.

1 ReactionThat is one of my older post when I had intermittent burning on various places on my body. It would appear sporadically on my arms, legs and feet. Never all at once. It usually lasted about a couple of hours or all day. It felt like a sunburn. It came about suddenly when I started taking mega doses of Vitamin B12 per my doctor’s instruction to treat my deficiency. It lasted a couple of months, before it subsided. Then it stopped and I don’t get it anymore.
I do still a quarter size spot on my right foot that will intermittently burn in waves. It’s different from the sunburn like sensation I got as described above. It usually does it for 1-2 minutes and stops. It’s not bothersome enough to take meds for. Hope that helps.
I've been on Cymbalta for just over a month. I still have severe back pain. I'm doing PT, but I don't think that's helping either. I know that Cymbalta has helped my anxiety. My PCP upped my dose to 90mg, which I took one time and couldn't walk the next day because I was so dizzy. I went back down to 60mg and the dizziness is gone. My only problem is the nausea I have now. Does anyone know what I can do about that side effect? Thanks for any advice.
I was on it years ago but had a bad reaction. But that’s me, I react to lots of meds. Everyone is different, but it didn’t work for me. It took 6 months and a colonoscopy to figure out my explosive diarrhea was caused by Cymbalta.
My rheumatologist put me on it for my arthritis pain. I started out 1 pill at night bc that's when it hurt the most. It kept me up so I take it now in the morning and it's great! I take 2 now since I had no adverse reactions to 1 after the 1st week. I'm also on Gabapentin 300mg up to 4x a day. I only get to take it morning and night since I don't like bringing meds to work (I teach at a prison). Anyways, it's worked great for me so far and pretty much keeps me out of pain. I do have indigestion though which is very annoying. Hope u feel better soon!
I’ve been on 120 mg of Cymbalta before and I am now taking 80 mg in the morning with no side effects I haven’t noticed a big change in the reduction of pain but I started 800 mg of gabapentin 3 x daily at the same time I’m not sure if either one is working at this point
This drug has lots of serotonin in it. If you are taking other drugs with serotonin in them, beware.I had an adverse reaction called serotonin syndrome. Too much serotonin in your system can be life threatening. Lots of anxiety, nausea and agitation. Contacted my doctor and then stopped it. Too dangerous for me to take.
