Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain?
Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain? I've had 2 doctors push this on me. I know that the side effects can be terrible and getting off of it difficult as it requires titration. One time I remember taking one pill, and not liking the way it made me feel, so not taking any more, and still feeling the "weirdness" from it 2-3 days later. and that was only 30 mg Please pass along any experience or advice from this medication?

Hello @besmith57 - in answer to your question, yes - I do take 60mg Duloxatine in the morning plus, 60mg Duloxetine in the evening (so 120mg in total throughout the day). Definitely take the medication with food - even if it’s only a couple of cookies, as that will settle the nausea feeling. The Bupronorphine is an opioid, and my GP had to be given clearance by the pain clinic to prescribe it for me…and the pharmacy needs ID from whoever collects it on my behalf. Thank you for your very kind words - they are greatly appreciated 🤭😊
You sound like an amazing woman! Good luck on your journey!
@ besmith57, your words are too kind. My family think I’m pretty crazy - and that’s exactly how I like it…🤣😂🤣
Sounds perfect to me!
Unfortunately Cymbalta didn't work for my Small Fiber Neuropathy and Lyrica stopped responding as well. I have a continuous Morphine Pump in my body pumping Morphine 24/7
So sorry everyone has had such awful reactions. I took the smallest dose and titrated up to 30. Wonder drug for all of my arthritis, horrible spine, etc etc, no pain first time in many years!
Got so much done with all the energy I had 🤪
Then, I was not able to sleep at all…so titrated off, for 10 days after that felt horrible.
Now I take Lexapro, of course does nothing for the pain, but I’m not so anxious.
Good luck to all!
Just wanted to add that they also push Gabapentin on spinal stenosis patients. Off-label drugs used for their side effects is wrong and not effective. I find it ridiculus that doctors do this, many have suffered terribly trying to stop these drugs. I'm a spinal stenosis, chronic pain patient, opposed to the surgery I was offered. A laminectomy with medial facetomy. Suffereing now over 2 years. I wish people would do their homework on these off-label drugs and any drugs for that matter--
Did u take it in the morning or at night? It definitely kept me up when I took it later in the day but it's fine for me in the morning. I agree with you...no pain and it feels amazing.
Thank you for asking…I tried all times of day…hated to quit it but I needed to sleep after a while
🤣
How long have you been taking it? Took me about 5-6 months before I wasn’t able to sleep
I've only been taking it for about 2 months but my rheumatologist wanted me to take it at night only bc the pain was keeping me up. I tried that for a week and then switched to mornings. I like it much better now lol.
