Is he receiving any treatment for his COPD? Inhalers, nebulizer, respiratory therapy, etc?
COPD and the smoking do raise risks of health issues, but sometimes things like underlying infections get overlooked.
Another related question- does he use a CPAP? How is it sanitized day to day? We had a friend who had low-grade almost continuous lung infections because he didn't keep his CPAP clean enough.

1 ReactionHi @ abhaykaushik, the QT interval is a measurement made on an electrocardiogram used to assess some of the electrical properties of the heart. People with long QT syndrome (LQTS) have a heart rhythm disorder that causes fast, chaotic heartbeats.

You said talk about anything so here goes. I just finished reading a rather long article about Superager Brains. I fit into that category as I am 91 years old and show no signs of dementia; live alone; and drive. It said I am among 5% of the population. The 5% struck a hard gong with me. Several years ago I almost died because of an anaphylactic reaction to lisinopril. In ICU for 3 days. Later I had to go to the Allergist for a follow up. He told me that 5% of the population react to lisinopril that way. Two 5%??? What do you think? Coincidence or something else?

4 ReactionsWhere to go???? I’ve had an issue for many years with total exhaustion , can’t walk or stand for long times, heavy breathing with even the slightest bit of exertion. Many tests! Many specialists. We just moved and have a new PCP. He ran several of the same labs I already had, nothing stands out. Said I must have chronic fatigue. No word on what to do next, referral to any one. Only offer for a med to give me some energy maybe. I’ve looked up CF and I do t fit any specific criteria and doubt his diagnosis. I felt he just took the easy route and brushed me off. I need to find someone to do a full check, like the doctors in those TV shows that investigate mystery illnesses. We don’t have to money or time to wander
The country for answers. So frustrating.

That is the sorry state of medical care in this country. The doctors either (1) don't care; (2) don't know; (3) don't have time to research because they are constrained by the health insurance industry who are only interested in profits. Sometimes what I do is call on either Mayo or Cleveland Clinics on my computer. I type in my question and mostly I feel I get better answers from them. If you have not already done so, try it. What do you have to lose?

2 Reactions@slatesslates1. I seem to have similar reactions with extreme fatigue and heavy breathing, especially while trying to walk. This is a new occurrence.
I have been told that I should be having 70mg of protein daily which I find difficult as I am lactose intolerant and just find it hard to consume so much food.
I am about to try a high protein, lowfat and carb drink and hope that the increase in protein will eliminate some of the fatigue.
I’m just suggesting this as a possibility.

1 Reaction@thisismarilynb you know what they say- “There’s no such thing as Coincidence” lol ! In all seriousness though, I find this to be quite fascinating!.. I’m wondering if you might have superior genes!? Did the Dr say What Exactly is triggered within those patients who have the allergic response to the med?

Unfortunately he did not. Also I was not as savvy about the medical field then as I am now. Then I was in the "sheep" category. Just accepted what was told me. During the years I have changed a lot.
I don't know about superior genes. I feel I am just an ordinary person, but I do know this. When I was 10 years old (80 years ago) I contracted scarlet fever. There were no drugs or medications at that time. I was put into a hospital for communicable diseases and isolated. Basically they waited for me to die. But I didn't. So maybe the ability of my body to fight off this disease may have something to do with it.

2 Reactions@thisismarilynb I can relate to the former self believing everything that was told to me! Boy was I naive!! How long were you in the hospital with scarlet fever?? That must have been truly terrifying, especially at the age of 10. You are a survivor, that’s for sure! You’re also quite an inspiration! I bet you have many fascinating stories to share. Do you enjoy any type of exercise, whether physical or mental? Im also curious what your diet is like, if you dont mind my asking?
