I’m having a Hospital billing issue.
Being charged Over seven hundred dollars for service that never happened.
I’ve spoken with the Hospital accounting people who forwarded the case to someone ells and I’m told to wait 10 days for their answer.
What options do I have if they will not issue a retraction ?
This is the second time it has happened to me.
I suspect I’m targeted due to my foreign name and age, 87
I will not pay a fake bill. It will sit if not corrected until I die. Then the claim is made against my estate which by law all debts must be payed before any distribution of funds. So the Hospital gets the money under false pretenses
A brilliance fund raising maneuver.
What is available to me in the event I don’t get a retraction ?.

@zygmund How many more days before the 10 days is complete? You probably need to wait to hear their answer. It might be they accidentally put a charge on your record. If they insist it is a true charge, are you able to prove to them it is not accurate?

Thank you for your response.
They have now had 14 days to respond, I was told to give them 10 days.
The charges are for a hospital visit, no overnight stay.
Ordered for Neurosurgery and the attending physician is listed as my primary MD who I had not visited for three years.
Which he complained about because he had no updated medical records of mine and said he’d needed to treat me as a new patient.
My Medicare A and B turned down the Hospital billing so I’m being billed for the total.
Personally,, I believe it to be deliberate fund raising scheme for the good Hospital services they stand for.
My age and unusual name is a good setup for raising funds, of which there is never enough. To blame the computer is a perfect cover for failure.
I recall AARP wrote an article some time ago to lookout for Hospital billings because the are known to double bill.
As I see it, with what I know.
It appears that “ trickle down corruption” is infecting our Nation.

@zygmund Armed with your information, I would suggest going in person, if possible, to the billing office and explaining things in a calm and intelligent manner. In my experience when dealing with errors, they are expecting us to get upset and yell. When I just pull out the facts and express myself, they do not have a reason to ignore me.

They probably had to put someone down for the primary doctor, so they used who was in your records. I can certainly understand that frustration, from his and your standpoints!

Please let me know how you fare?

Today I went as previously invited to come again if I had no reply.
I found the personal accounting lady very professional, however no authority to change anything.
I going to collect my records from the Doctors named in the billing to show the Doctor’s information.
(treatments) do not match the billing statement.
I know from my experience, Accountants can be heartless.
As black as their Figure's. 😊
