Anyone taking 5 mg Tamoxifen: Do you have side effects with 5 mg?

Hi
Just wondering if anyone on here takes 5 mg of tamoxifen and if so do you have side effects with 5 mg. That's what my oncologist said he will put me on once I'm done on my treatment

Did you have any issues getting Toremifine filled?
I didn’t know Tamoxifen was banned in Europe
Thank you for sharing the drug that you are tolerating

Hello I have been on Tamoxifen for a little over a year now Reduced the dose to 5 mg daily Had so many side effects Recently experienced insomnia, bad dreams and having to urinate during the night every hour. I have taken a break for 2 weeks from Tamoxifen to see if symptoms increased insomnia not able to sleep still up all night to urinate increased hot flashes See my oncologist the end of month May 23. Feel like I walked across desert Drink lots of water but stop before bedtime Started taking magnesium at night to see if that might help I take my Tamoxifen mid morning I’m exhausted Has anyone experienced this I’m 82
Thanks for any input

Hi
I only lasted 6 days on tamoxifen. I discussed with my oncologist and he agreed it was not worth it for myself. Personally I don't see the benefit of taking a medication that gives you such horrific side effects and your quality of life goes in the crapper

Thank’s even when you try to take a break from it Still trying to kill us😊 I don’t know how women stay on it so long
Maybe can tolerate s/e’s better
I though I was pretty strong
but I was wrong
I haven’t tried any of the other Drugs this was what was recommended Of course missed the radiation boat. I don’t know if I should have seen Radiologist to see if any benefit but I had taken it for 3 months then stopped for about 3 then tried the 5mg a day which helped with the s/e’s until this last fiasco peeing every hour increased hot flashes insomnia and exhaustion So not taking it now about 10 days still can’t sleep
Exhausted Don’t know how long this drug takes to completely get out of our system, maybe never I feel I had a good attitude and a sense of humor about this whole breast cancer diagnosis
Don’t know if I can try natural, healthy lifestyle changes at 82 or just live my life
Sorry about the long posts I wish I had something more positive to say
Bless everyone fighting this battle

Hi
Well this is the place to discuss things if you need to and I think that the more women talk about this the better because I don't understand why doctors aren't listening that this medication is not helping us. May I ask what kind of breast cancer you had and why you didn't have the option to do radiation. I had two surgeries and I did radiation for dcis. I am 66 and I'm just going to live my life and hopefully it doesn't appear somewhere else I'm not going to even get on the train for the AI medication because that in itself is horrendous also I want to know who approves these drugs why would you take a medication that gives you osteoporosis amongst a lot of other problems. I wish you well

I really think I was so surprised When I was diagnosed with breast cancer I really didn’t ask the right questions I had a mammogram every year and had some fibroid cysts Had a biopsy in my 40’ s done by a regular surgeon and I as negative just a fibroid cyst in both breast Had my mammogram at 80 and an ultrasound with biopsy
Showed Invasive ductal carcinoma in right breast
Scheduled for surgery Really no one mentioned score or grade When had my follow up with the surgeon she said I wouldn’t do radiation just a pill a day Then appointment with oncologist I told him surgeon said just a pill. Maybe age
After I stopped the Tomaxifin for 3 months and then later started the 5 mg and was doing ok He mentioned radiology but I said I would just stay on lower dose and save radiation for later if needed
Maybe not very smart But sometimes I think so routine for them they don’t really explain At that time I didn’t do any research seemed like everyone and their Mother took this drug
Maybe should have had radiation I wasn’t afraid of it
Just shocked and shoud have did a little research Usually I’m smarter ☺️

Hi
Did you have mammograms every 2 years or was there a big lapse between finding it at 80. I am just that kind of person that researches plus I worked in the hospital for 35 years as a purchaser for the operating room so I sort of knew what kind of research I needed to do. It's your right to question things always. I also was extremely shocked when they told me I had cancer I always had dense breasts and I had a biopsy after my mammogram last September which showed dcis.

Yes had mammogram every year Never missed one
I think that’s why I was surprised I thought the biopsy would be negative
Thanks for responding
