Anyone taking 5 mg Tamoxifen: Do you have side effects with 5 mg?

Hi
Just wondering if anyone on here takes 5 mg of tamoxifen and if so do you have side effects with 5 mg. That's what my oncologist said he will put me on once I'm done on my treatment

Hi
If you can tolerate 5 mg you're amazing but I decided for my sanity and health I'm not taking that medication. I have done a lot of research on it.

Hi
Well being hypersensitive to drugs I usually research I took the doctor at his word and tried this I'm 6 days from stopping it and I still do not have 100% clear mind. I would be interested to hear your story. It's just sad that we as women seem so indisposable to the medical field that they can't come up with a medication that actually does what it says without slowly killing you.

I have an appointment with my Primary care DR on May 6th for my annual She had lab work drawn prior to my Medicare wellness exam
So she is aware of the results. I’m going to bring her info on how Tamoxifen can be toxic to the kidneys and my A1c is higher then it was last year I’m wondering if taking Tamoxifen 3 times a week would cause less s/e’s I doubt it The only thing the lower dose, has helped with the many side effects and different manufacturer is less joint pain and not as many hot flashes Still fatigue but not as severe
I was on Premarin vaginal cream for years 2 x a week for dryness and to help Prevent UTI’s I had decreased it to once a week Haven’t started using it again The oncologist said I could use it since Tamoxifen is an estrogen blocker Since I had decreased Tamoxifen afraid to use it.
They keep bumping my appointments up with the oncologist so haven’t seen him
I also was told not radiation just take a pill to prevent reoccurrence but if you can’t tolerate estrogen blockers you missed the boat on radiation treatment
I felt blindsided by diagnosis I thought by living till age 80 I had outlived breast cancer
Was surprised thought probably a fibroid cyst Tamoxifen is an old drug my Mother was on it and died of breast cancer at 64 My concern now with the Tamoxifen of course kidney failure and the constant peeing all night and insomnia and bad dreams that have started Worse fear as of late concern over memory a few times lately have to search for a word and it doesn’t show up
You feel like it’s a coin toss and who gets to call it
We have to research for ourself and spend hours reading what helped other women Bless everyone who takes the time to post their journey and what has helped

I had a terrible time on tamoxifen. The symptoms just kept compounding and ran the spectrum from being uncomfortable - leg cramps, sleeplessness, to being dangerous - fainting and heart issues (there had no prior history). It finally culminated in a full-on allergic reaction and that's when my oncologist and I both agreed that this wasn't the drug for me. She put me on Toremifene instead; she described it as a Tamoxifen that was enzyme-processed. It's been months now and although I do think it impacts my sleep somewhat and I feel like my joints are a bit more "creaky" if I don't remember to stretch and move regularly, these are side effects that I can tolerate.

Hi
Interesting I had alot of the same symptoms. I was only on it for 6 days. My heart went nuts and I almost blacked out driving it was terrifying, the headache and brainfog, depression, major spasm in legs at night, tinnitus came on by day 2. This drug is banned in Europe. Not gonna drink the Kool aid. I am done.

I hadn’t been very optimistic about toremifene but so far it hasn’t been a problem for me.
