Hi
Just wondering if anyone on here takes 5 mg of tamoxifen and if so do you have side effects with 5 mg. That's what my oncologist said he will put me on once I'm done on my treatment

Susan Love wrote about women who suffered "hormone driven depression" such as post partum depression or PMS when younger can have severe depression on Tamoxifen. That's what happened to me on even 10 mg of Tamoxifen. My oncologist has me on 10 mg/5mg alternating days and I am tolerating that without symptoms.
My doctor says "low (dose) is better than no (dose). I hope this helps.

Hi
Isn't it just lovely wet women have to go through because of their hormones. My oncologist and I already agreed on 5 mg that is all I will do because I'm so hypersensitive to meds because of my fibro I'm just tired of scripts.

Hello!
I have recently started 5mg of tamoxifen after not tolerating the 3 - AI’s. So far so good with a couple of caveats: fatigue and what feels like an irritated bladder.
I am 65 post-menopause with IDC, ER and PR positive and her2-. I believe I am supposed to take 10mg for IDC but need to reconfirm with onco.
Not sure that is helpful but will look for your experience too!

Hi
Yes that is very helpful thank you. I understand the bladder problem I've been having it since last April my oncologist put me on vagifem every third day but I think I need it every other day. I also take Utiva cranberry my pharmacist orders it for me you can also order it on Amazon it is one of the strongest cranberry my naturopath put me on it and I also take a supplement called d-mannose 1000mg a day. I was doing great on this regimen and when I got my radiation the second week which was last week I decided to cut it down to 500 mg a day which is not smart so now I am suffering the consequences so I've had to triple my dosage awaiting my urine results to see if I have to have a antibiotic. I will let you know for sure what my symptoms are once I start the tamoxifen Monday.

I am a 71 year old woman with ADH who has been taking a weekly total of 30 mg of tamoxifen (10 mg every M, W and F) since 12/18/2023. I have not noticed any side effects connected to the tamoxifen at this dose, which is slightly less than the daily 5 mg.
