Anyone using Nicotine patches for Long Covid?

Posted by tgroff @tgroff, Apr 19, 2023

There is lots of discussion on Facebook Long Covid forums about nicotine patches helping with long covid symptoms after a few days of adjustment to the patches. Any thoughts on this?

I am wondering if there is maybe one person within this research group who has had some success with the nicotine supplements for Long Covid - massive dizziness!!! . It will be three years next month in April when I was clobbered with my second Moderna vaccine and I have been a cripple for all practical purposes since then. Walking with a cane and still swaying and staggering like a drunken sailor. Have taken 4 Covid tests over the years, all negative, but the vax did me in. Have of course lots of other symptoms but the never-ending dizziness is hard to handle, especially after such a long time .... ;-( thank you kindly

So, since putting in the above request on nicotine I went through a little over a month on nicotine patches with 7mg and then 14 mg each day and have unfortunately not noticed any positive effect with my Covid issues ... ;-( The only result I noticed was that I was actually able to dream for the first time in many years; fortunately they were all pleasant dream, too. Other than that, no beneficial outcome with nicotine patches for me ... still majorly as dizzy as before ...

Try MQ Motion Patch for dizziness. It is natural, you just put these tiny patches behind you ears ( the size of a dime). It helps with my dizziness,

After contracting covid in early January 2021 I have been out without my sense of smell for over three years now. That seems to be the only lingering symptom, but I am definitely willing to try the nicotine. I am somewhat afraid of the side effects as I have not been a smoker for over 40 years. I have read on here that some people use the gum and some use the 7 mg patches. Does anyone have advice for someone just missing their lack of smell?

I lost my sense of smell from covid in December 2020.
I recently listened to a podcast about the benefits of nicotine and long covid. I started using 1/6th of a 21 mg patch (I cut it in to 6 little squares) of nicotine and within a week I have my sense of smell back to 100%!!!
I used to be a smoker 35 years ago and I have 0 nicotine craving so that is not i. Anyway a worry! Or concern!
I’m so incredibly grateful to have regained my sense of smell because I had resolved to never getting it back after almost 3 years. (It was actually dangerous because I couldn’t smell things burning or gas!)
Don’t be afraid to try it, I had 0 negative side effects!!

I am in the same boat having lost my sense of smell in January 2021 and continue with it gone. For the most part at this point, I hardly miss it until someone says something about a smell. My sense of smell used to be incredibly strong. Now I can’t leave anything cooking on the stove and walk out of the room because I will never smell if it burns. I just heard about using the nicotine patch and I am willing to try it. I will report back after I purchase some and give it a try. Thanks for the info.

I'm nervous about trying it because of all the side effects listed. Can anyone describe how it makes you feel? Any bad experiences? My main issues are SOB, PEM, brain fog, leaden legs, lack of balance, etc.
Thank you!!

The patches helped me a lot, but major allergic reaction to skin from adhesive, so switched to gum. Good luck!

Wondering if anyone here has tried the nicotine patches for long Covid or Covid vaccine injured symptoms?

Not sure how you do it, but search for past discussions ... there is a long thread on nicotine patches

I started using this patch at 7mg for 7 days every 4 weeks. I have friends and family in the medical field. They told me about this. I was having several symptoms from long term covid. The heart issues were the ones that bothered me the most. After wearing these patches for a week. I started to feel some of the symptoms start to subside, especially the heart palpitation pain.
In grateful for my friend.
