Anyone using Nicotine patches for Long Covid?

Posted by tgroff @tgroff, Apr 19, 2023

There is lots of discussion on Facebook Long Covid forums about nicotine patches helping with long covid symptoms after a few days of adjustment to the patches. Any thoughts on this?

I had the same experience with doxycycline ... not the spike, but huge decline in symptoms for the 14days I was taking it, and then the symptoms all came back when I stopped.

DYCL is one of the primary treatments in protocols in South America, Central America, Africa, the Middle East, etc... with stromectol and hydroxychloroquin.

Take a look at infection rate per million and death rate per million in these nations compared to western countries. Shocking.

These other countries did not receive the vaccine or boosters, too expensive.

Interesting! For me, it was a bit different. The first week or so of Doxy, my symptoms would spike, including symptoms that had mostly faded out. After what I called "spike day," the symptoms would vanish over 1-3 days, being entirely gone on the final day. After the cycle ended, though, I would find symptoms returning after a few days.

I've run through that cycle twice; my doctor is willing to experiment with me to try different things if I sell it well. Of note... my infectious disease specialist (I have been trying everything) did note that Doxy is also an anti-inflammatory, so that may be why it works.

Things that have not worked:
- Gabapentin
- Prednisone
- SSRIs (The dreaded "in your head" angle)
- LDN
- NSAIDS
- Stretching (No, really, I was told by my since-fired PCP to 'stretch' because diffuse nerve irritation was clearly curable by stretching...)
- Wrist braces ('it might just be inexplicably pulled tendons!)
- Summoning Cthulu (well, still awaiting results there)

And the experiment with Nicotine patches begins. I'll keep y'all posted either way.

Patches are dermal. Take too long.
Gum (chew slightly and put under tongue or in cheek) or pouches. I use Zyn 6 mg.

My target dose for issues and weight is 40 to 50 mg per day. The long covid is gone. The flares are manageable. My rhumatologist was "worried" about an addiction. I am worried about having a life. I won.

I've had the ganglion block twice. No real change for the better or worse.

I am umaware of this type of treatment. Is this nerve burning?

Most of what medical professionals recommend is worthless.

Plant oils, extracts, the right dose, the right timing, making sure no interactions with Rx (s), and identifying proper dose to response desired had solved more problems than current medicine.

No; it numbs the nerves temporarily, I believe. The idea is that if the immune system is dysregulated, the interruption to the nerves allows them to reset. It has shown considerable promise in some Long COVID sufferers, and has also had positive effects on other chronic autoimmune dysfunctions. having said that, it is still new, so your mileage may vary.

I might give that a try if the patches fail. Right now, I'm doing my best to follow the protocol outlined in the initial experiment (I hesitate to call it a study.) If, after the maximum cycle, I see only modest improvement I may up the dose for a second round.

I have a few experiments queued up; if they fail, I'll add more. Doctors seem stumped and unwilling to dive into research, so... I'll see what I can do myself.

Multiple new published studies in the last four months (refereed journals) show Sars virus still present in low levels (likely below short test detection level) in Long Covid sufferers (location of persistence not listed) for over six months since infection clearing.

This explains a tremdous amount to me in why these flares from Covid Reactive Arthritis continue and all the symptoms woth Long Covid.

Also, most of the research shows it is hiding in the lower GI tract, particularly small intestine where 70% of seratonin is produced. Seretonin regulates, through the Digestive Nervous System [DNS] the Vegas nerve in the brain which also regulates and triggers more serotonin production. These two components regulate heart rate, BP, sleep, attention, focus, analysis type thinking, etc.... (brain fog symptoms and other Long Covid symptoms like poor digestion, bloating, tempirary lactose intolerance, and strange stools which are direct rssult of Sars damaging the intestinal villi which continues to go on as long as Long Covid and Sars virus persists at low levels.

I have put together a group of herbs, spices, and specific plant parts, chopped fine, gilled lightly in olive and garlic oil, and rhen roasted. I am fasting and eating one meal of this bitter herb and solanceae family producing phytochem mixture one per day until no symptoms (expecting) are present. These species extracts are used for organic weed, insect, fungi, bacteria, and virus control. My PH.D. is in Plant Pathology and Microbiology, Masters in biology, Bachelors in Plant and Soil Science with heavy emphasis on soil chemistry, host plant resistance, chemistry, physiology, and pathogenesis

However long it takes. This is in effect plant chemo including
Terpenoids, alkaloids, tannins, sterols, phytoalexins, and many other plant phytochemicals that stimulate, modulate, and-or confer initiated resistance which are anti-inflamatory, anti-cancerous, anti-oxidant, anti-viral, antibacterial, and anti-fungal,

Read up on "dose response method".

This has been my method of testing each product I try. I have eliminated most supplements, vitamins, and other "treatments" which have low or no effect by this method.

This method has provided my entire regimen to knocking down Covid once infected, ending most long covid symptoms (except Vegas nerve and serotonin interferance). The bittter herb and phytochem producing family of plantsis what I am focussing on now to kill the remnant virus. I tested in November and my symptoms of Long Covid disappeared after 30 days. The flares went down to once per week and were easy to control and end within 6 to 8 hours versus 3 to 5 days.

Then ai contracted Flu A which led to another Sars infection (per ressearch on this interaction, published) and bronchitis. I am just now able to prepare a new batxh kast night. I started the fast on Wednesday to prepare.

No sugars of any type (worst inflamatory substance)
Carbohydrates extremely limited
Consuming roasted broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, asparagus, and 4 to 6 brazil nuts each 4 days (selenium).
