Has anyone tried Umary Hialuronica Acidio from Mexico?

Posted by jixster @jixster, Feb 20 12:16pm

I bought a bottle of this UMARY Hialuronica Acidio from Amazon - I wanted something to help with my morning stiffness from PMR. I tried one pill mid- afternoon and the next morning I felt like new! No pain - no stiffness. BUT - after reading some negative reviews on Amazon I became aware of some possible issues, that because it works so well there must be an unlisted ingredient(s) - perhaps a NSAID OR A STEROID? One person mentioned after a couple months of using it started to mess up his liver enzymes. Since I am on 10mg of prednisone I decided to only take this supplement once every 4 days until I see my rheumatologist in April - I did not see any warning from the FDA for Umary - there are many more positive reviews than negative reviews on Amazon- I wish I could get it analyzed to be sure it’s safe but I don’t know where such can be done.

I have found a place in Canada that tests drugs. They have tested the hyaluronic acid pills by Umary, and they DO indeed have Diclofenac in them. 45-50% of the pill is Diclofenac.

I do not know the amount. However, I had very serious 'overdosing' symptoms from it which I why I ended up researching it. I actually thought (based on my doctor's assessment of my situation) that it might have been laced with cocaine. But it's not!

You can go to Get Your Drugs Tested. They have a website. Go to the results page, and in the RESULTS search box put in the word Diclofenac. Some pictures will pop up... click on the images and compare them to your Umary pills and you will see the results.

Their search system is based on drugs, not on brands or pill names. So you have to search Diclofenac.

In Canada oral Diclofenac is illegal without a prescription. So this is a really big deal to me. The picture attached is what you will see on the website I noted above.

I hope someone finds this helpful. 😊

This pill really needs an accurate assessment of its constituents. A picture of the label online claims that that it is an 850mg tablet. If you add up all up the numbers and subtract them from 850, the balance remaining is 170mg. This is 20% of the contents. If this is accurate, I don't think Diclofenac could make up 45-50% of the contents. What else do they have in this product? I saw one article that indicated that Dexamethasone may also be a hidden ingredient. Can anyone shed some light on this? I have friends who take this. We need to find out what's real and what is just conjecture or misleading information.

I too had the same good, great experience after just one pill!!
This stuff is great but I would bet it is dangerous.
Only info I can find is that a test in Canada indicated it had diclofenac and possibly a steroid in it?

I sure wish Mayo would analyze this supplement.
Maybe there is a way to take it safely?
If i can’t get better soon I will start taking it every two days!!!
I am eighty years old and am tired of constant pain so at least my time remaining will be without pain!!

If this product contains a steroid, you need to exactly how much is in it and you can work with your doctor to help you set up a schedule for administration or withdrawal. That being said, you should not stop taking it without a plan. You will need to gradually reduce the dosage to avoid exacerbation of the negative effects.

In my review of Umary I came across two different references to some type of analysis which was done in Canada.
One indicated presence of 25-35 mg of Diclofenac . Another reference indicated presence of some type of steroid.
I cannot confirm the results as being accurate.
I will say and stress the immediate need for someone in the medical community to perform an analysis on Umary.
The stuff works there is no doubt, but why is the question.
I am trying to find out where and how to get it correctly analyzed.
I will foot the bill if reasonable!!

I have researched finding a lab that would test Umary to tell us exactly what is in it. Most will not do this. I found exactly one that would and they charge $25,000-$30,000. I was willing to pay but not this much. The pills are SO effective that it seems there has to be something other than what is listed in them. I've been taking one half pill/day instead of one and it's not AS effective but helps. Surely would like to know what is in them as when I took one/day I felt the best I have in over 20 years!

I agree with everything you have said. I have only taking it a couple of months, but have felt amazing. Took 20 years off my life, and completely alleviated all the "Itis" Pains. (Arthritis, Bursitis, Tendonitis). I have not taken a single NSAID since starting UMARY (Probably because UMARY has some in it). I have kept in close communication with my doctor over UMARY, and mentioned Monday it likely contained Diclofenac. Surprisingly he didn't seem concerned or suggest I stop taking it. He told me to watch out for a few symptoms, none of which I have, so I am continuing on although at only half a dose a day. Now hearing it may have a steroid in it I am rethinking that as well. It is very discouraging.

Unfortunately, Umary may end up literally taking 20 yrs off your life if you end up with serious gastro-intestinal damage from taking diclofenac, especially taking it with prednisone. Bowel perforation requiring emergency surgery can go undetected till days before it is potentially fatal. I have a friend who now lives with a permanent colostomy bag after a bowel perforation. She's younger than me and was lucky to survive.

It's alarming that your doctor is not aware of the dangers of undeclared drugs in "supplements" like Umary (previously sold under names like Ortiga [nettle] and Artri) and the FDA warnings about them. The FDA also warns that the ingredients (both declared & undeclared) in these products made in Mexico where sanitary and safety regulations are not in place, varied in amount from batch to batch. I can't understand anyone being willing to risk taking shonky supplements/drugs from Mexico.

I have Severe RA tried infusions all the normal RA meds, on 30 mg prednisone… decided to try UMary was worried about what was in it cause of Mexico; but tried it I couldn’t believe it. I am off all my prednisone I am not taking no other RA meds. I have to take one in the Morning and one at night if I miss a dose I feel it. I also take tumeric and green mussel supplement out of New Zealand. I am worried what’s in umary but the list seemed safe. I have blood work done at rheumatologist every 4 months and since I been taking it my liver enzymes and kidney numbers have all been good. I tried going off it and trying three different hauluronic suppliments and they did not work at all my RA flared up so bad. I would love to know if what is in That pill is the same as what’s on the bottle. Because what ever is in that pill is helping me tremendously. I want Amazon to bring it back !!!

Retired RN here. I decided to try this OTC supplement. The reviews on Amazon indicate that some folks had the pills tested for content. Found the presence of diclofenac. I've been on this drug as Voltaren. 100 mg dosage. Worked extremely well for me except as a generic. I did research diclofenac and learned that it is excreted by our bodies if on the medication regularly. This means it enters the wastewater stream either thru septic systems or sewer systems. It has been found that it is readily taken up by plant life. The tests that people had done showed a relatively low dose at 25-30mg. After being on Voltaren for over 10 yrs or so, it did not affect my kidneys or my liver. I was very surprised at the result I had with UMARY after just 3 days. I became disabled at 60 with Osteoarthritis. Gotten 3 orthopedic surgeries and am doing better at 75. Then, last Nov, I had to have sinus surgery and had to come off my Feldene. Was off for about 3 wks. Then I realized I could control the OA with aspirin. Still had a significant problem each AM with low back pain. A friend told me about UMARY which she had been on for several months with no side effects. Our docs were consulted and both said, nothing listed that would be adverse to our health. I took the first dose 3/18/24 and was blown away at the relief from my back pain. I have been on steroids in the past and never got relief this fast. I think it may be the combination of ingredients that is working. BTW. after I came off Feldene my renal labs improved dramatically. My GFR went from 54 to 75. My doc was very happy. I will find a way to get this from Mexico if it disappears in the USA. My SIL is Hispanic and his family lives in El Paso! I strongly suspect the reason that it is out of stock on many sites is due to the demand for it.

If anyone gets it analyzed I would love to get results. My husband and I have experienced the same results. Relieved most all pain in neck and shoulders.
What test do ya'll recommend we take besides liver to make sure we are not causing undo harm to our bodies.
Thanks for any input.'

Diclofenac is an NSAID and long term use can reduce kidney function, not liver. Tylenol can impact your liver. A pharmacist friend has sent a Umary sample to the Auburn University pharmacy school for testing. I haven't heard anything back yet.

I also question what is in this product that gives overnight relief? I have taken diclofenac before I han my hip replaced and it didn’t give the relief this does. I wonder if it could be dexamethasone that gives this miracle relief?

I absolutely agree. I have tried it personally and it works like a miracle for pain reduction. There has to be something in it that could give overnight relief and one wonders why nothing is listed in the ingredients. I know so many people taking this on a regular basis and question how safe this is without knowing all the ingredients. I feel that I should warn them but that’s hard to do when you really don’t know what is actually in the product.
