Welcome Kathy, so glad you've joined us. Also great to see that your doctor values patient exchange in online communities. I like her/him already.

Here's one of many articles that talks about foods that are good for high blood pressure. http://www.healthline.com/health-slideshow/foods-good-for-high-blood-pressure#1 Guidelines advise people to exercise and eat what's known as Mediterranean or DASH-style (Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension) diets that emphasize fruits, vegetables, whole grains and seeds, plus poultry and fish.

I'm tagging @teatime @HeartPatches @sereenee @mariejnd @elsinann @lynnkay1956 @abster93 for their thoughts on diet and healthy living for heart health.

Hi Kathy, I also have high blood pressure and I am determined to deal with this as holistically as possible after having an adverse reaction to my medication (a beta blocker). I have been looking a lot at online resources. Colleen is spot on about the DASH diet. I have been enjoying a blog called Skinny with Fiber: http://skinnywithfiber.org/comprehensive-guide-to-the-dash-diet/

I also have to find easy family friendly recipes as I have a 6 YO and a husband to feed as well. I´ll be following this thread with interest.

Hi Guys. I just want to tell you what I juice. Wash all these items.
Half large beet (leaves and all)
1 Kiwi
Half large carrot or one whole med carrot
1 celery stalk
10-12 red grapes

Juice these and drink up right away. I don't add any water. This was a few minutes ago today.
153/83 @ 5:08 PM
130/79 @ 6:15 PM
This always works for me. Plus I do ride a bicycle too. Sprint about 2 miles as fast as I can ride. And it drops right down. Some days I toodle about 3-6 miles and it drops down too.
Hope that this helps others wanting to try to get off the Rx.

Hi, @lioness - I can imagine it must be very challenging for your tinnitus to be getting worse and have buzzing all the time.

Here is some information that Mayo offers on tinnitus- https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/tinnitus/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20350162.

Also, here are a couple of discussions on Connect related to tinnitus you may wish to read over and participate in:
