Y-90 liver cancer treatment

Posted by mudshark @mudshark, Dec 8, 2019

I recently was treated with y-90 on a tumor in my liver. I am interested in knowing of others that have had experiences good, or bad, and of long term results. I have had prior resection of the liver to remove a tumor but a new tumor surfaced in a different section. I am hoping the y-90 will prove to be a more permanent solution. Thanks

My spouse was treated on left liver lobe with Y90 treatment and about a month later a celiac plexus block was done. Next week we are doing right liver lobe. Cea increased to 200 the highest it has been. First is this normal? Next we started Lonsurf five days on two days off five on and then a three week off period. Weight loss, not eating much, nausea, and Losse stools.
Oncologists will take minimum time to address these issues. Are we on the right path?

The answer to the question "Has Y-90 been ordered as a treatment for you?" is no. My wife is the patient – midgut with mets to the liver. She has successfully been on Afinitor for 3+ years and it has successfully halted further spread of liver tumors.

What is afinitor are these chemo pills or is it an infusion. How successful have the treatment been in reducing cancer to liver ? We were on 5FU with bev and later several of oxipkatin but did nit like neuropathy and one yr later on xeloda followed by 5FU with bev later. Now Y90

Afinitor (Everolimus) is a chemo pill or at least a pill you take daily to treat cancer of the kidney, pancreas, breast, and brain. It can also be used along with other medications to prevent rejection of a transplanted kidney or liver. For NETs, it is used to control the growth of liver mets.

I had my Y90 treatment 10 days ago. Unlike the first one i am suffering some side effects. Biggest problem is a little lethargy but the biggest is stomach pain. IR Doc said could last as long as two weeks so almost through it. Has anyone else experienced the paid in the abdomen? CT in three weeks and we'll get an idea if with worked. Blessings, Diane

My spouse had Y90 in September and late sept beginning October he had severe abdominal pains doubled over .so they did a celiac plexus block as they said that this will help. It did stop pain. Altho he had started loosing weight earlier almost 10 kilos which he cannot afford to loose. Accompanied by nausea and diarrhoea so family doctor ordererd stool sample to check. One test came back negative waiting in other test. Tuesday we go for right lobe Y90 and now on Lonsurf
