What can I do about facial scarring

Posted by Bluedevil15 @bluedevil15, Sep 24, 2011

I am a 17 year old male and I have cystic acne which has left a lot of noticeable scars in my face. I go to the dermatologist about 3 or 4 times a year and I take antibiotics (doxycycline) as well as topical gels as well but it doesn't help much with the actual marks that are left behind. So my question is if a dermabrasion would help?

Also, for the scars I use Mederma and although my mother says she sees improvement, I don't and I don't know if I should just stop using it or if i should continue in case I might be too presumptuous. Thanks.

Hi! There are options like laser skin resurfacing and facial peels. Consult a good aesthetician in your area. Look for one in conjunction with a local plastic surgeons office. You can get a consult before you decide on anything.

Glycolic acid peels help a lot
