What are your experiences with Leqvio?
My cardiologist is considering adding Leqvio to rosuvastatin to further reduce my cholesterol. I am looking for other people’s experiences with Leqvio.

@carolman210 I just started Leqvio about 10 days ago. I have been sick with cough and sore throat most of the time since then. Very unusual for me. Very severe symptoms. Worse than I ever had in my whole long life. Coincidence? Do not know. It’s as if my immune system broke down. I heard the theory that the lipids we are trying to reduce by taking meds are necessary for the immune system to create antibodies. Crazy idea? Who knows?
@carolman210 I had the same experience. Taking Rosavstatin every other day & Zetia every day. I was so miserable with muscle pain in my legs I had to quit. I was really looking forward to Repatha but the reaction was even worse with headaches & back aches. The only thing left is Leqvio. Also wanting to know what people experience with this med.
@tatiana987 I’m not sure what else to take now. I’ll try it & see what happens.
It makes me sad & mad for what this med did to you.
I’m thinking fish oil & CoQ10 might be the only alternative along with Zetia.
I have been getting Leqvio injections only (no statins) for almost 2 years now. No reactions and cholesterol is at good levels now. My cholesterol started coming down after the first 2 injections. Now it’s even better.
I had horrible side effects with statins and will never take them again.

2 ReactionsI started Leqvio Nov 2024 - take every 6 months May & November; initially I developed a rough deep cough all year off & on but not a junkie cough just a deep cough with unexpected nasal drips; no fever; but felt run-down all the time; ended the year feeling a tiny bit better; my A1C or glucose went up slightly; we monitor it regularly; my overall body aches and pains are slightly better going into 2026; the medication has definitely helped my cholesterol numbers; I have not had the severe muscle pain, chills, shoulder pain, fatigue or brain fog I experienced with Repatha or rosuvastatin; keep me posted on your progress. Blessings to you!

1 ReactionMy husband was put on Leqvio with Crestor. At first it seemed great. But as the first few months went on, I am noticing mood and personality changes that I find really difficult. For one thing, his memory is slipping a little, but aside from that, it's suddenly like living with an old crochety man. He gets mad about the dumbest things and holds a grudge - things like a disorganized drawer in the kitchen that he suddenly decided is HIS drawer and got so angry at me for doing this to HIS drawer that he stopped speaking to me. It was crazy! And it is NOT him. We've been together for 37 years, nothing like this has ever happened. I feel on edge all the time because of this new moodiness. Pretty certain it's the leqvio. He can't take anything else and he has serious heart disease. I can't change it but the fighting between us now could easily cause a heart attack as well. Health problems are horrible. And Western Medicine is even worse!
