Weight Gain with Evenity

Posted by susanew @susanew, Feb 11 4:56pm

Some have said they gained some weight when taking Evenity. Any idea at about what shots you noticed this? I am now going to be taking shots #9 and I do notice about a 4 to 5 lb. gain. Anyone else notice a gain in weight and if so, when was it noticeable?

I completed my 12 months of Evenity at the end of 2024. My weight remained stable and my lumbar spine Dexa results increased dramatically from -3.5 to -1.8.

Can you tell us what your physician put you on after Evenity? I am starting Evenity and thinking ahead; I am reluctant to take Prolia. Thank you

My provider recommended Prolia. The other option would have been Reclast. I chose Prolia after speaking with my provider, nurses at the infusion center, and actual patients also receiving Prolia. My provider has many patients on Prolia, with only a handful that have had to stop. Many patients have been on it for years— 10-12 yrs so far without issues. If I have to stop it for some reason , I will need to change to another medication to avoid bone loss. I’ve received my 1st dose a couple of months ago and so far, no issues. The way I look at it, my chances of having a problem would be less than having a compression fracture.

Thx you. At least it isn't just me. I know that this treatment has interfered with my thyroid. I've had thyroid issues for 48 yrs and I know how my bodies react. The end of March I gave my bone density and final shot. I'm hoping that my body gets back to some normalcy. Thxs for your feedback. I'll post more when I have an update at that time.

I gained 8 pounds in my belly over the first 11 months on Evenity. Now, three months later, my belly has returned to its normal state.
My FSH surged upward from around 3 to 16 in those same 11 months. Coincidence?
Endo says retest in 3 months--if it's the same, will "have to" go on meds.
I am looking into selenium as support for thyroid function.
