Hello all! I am going down to Mayo Jacksonville tomorrow morning for an appointment with an Ehlers Danlos specialist. I have many records on paper, which I plan to bring, but I'm worried I'll be missing something. Do Mayo doctors appreciate the beloved medical binder? I tend to bring everything in one binder, but my local doctors find it annoying. It's been a long road to be able to see someone at Mayo, and I guess I'm looking for confirmation that the doctors there care and won't blame the illness on me. Also, any first timer tips are appreciated! I just have the one appointment at 7am. Thank you all!

Hi @jthigpen - Welcome to Connect! As you've already seen, there are plenty of helpful people here who have great thoughts and experience to share. I agree with the others that bringing your binder is a good idea. Also agree that since your appointment is tomorrow, if you have not yet gotten an itinerary, go on the portal and print one out for yourself - or just download the app on your phone so you can get to it. A lot of times I print mine, then I take notes on it for future reference. The other tip I would offer is one that was shared here some time ago... first, be sure to have your top several questions listed in writing. That way, if things get overwhelming, at least you are able to get to those crucial items. Second, end by asking if there is anything you have not asked that the doctor thinks you should now. And finally, ask the doctor or PA what is the best way to follow up if you have questions later. (My doctor and PA are always happy to answer over the portal and this doesn't disrupt them, but it doesn't hurt to ask just to clarify.) Good luck. Will you keep us posted on how things go tomorrow? AND, if after your visit, there are things you wish you'd learned here on Connect, will you come back and tell us so we can help others in a similar situation?

Thanks for creating that graphic about the Patient Online Services, @fourof5zs. You've had occasion to use it a few times in the past couple of days to help new Mayo patients. So helpful!

You are welcome. You are welcome to download and use anytime you find it helpful. I should have taken it to my other editor that I can do cropping. The ipad editor does well with markups. It may have a crop option and I just don't know it. It may be like the Create an account option and just cannot see it. 😁

I’ll be having my televisit finally w/ Gastro on Sept 7 th 2021 after waiting 6 months . When they finally schedule me for all testing . I looked on VRBO to rent a condo w/ our two dogs on beachside . Not too far at all from clinic. This way my hubby has something to do after he drops me off and dogs get to come w/ us . Many options, just type in Jacksonville Beach into search . I pray they finally help me , it’s 7.5 years now and many other Gastro other places . 🙏
