Vaginal atrophy
TO THE LADIES ONLY: As I got older I started developing vaginal atrophy. Then I started developing open splits on my labia that were extremely painful. I went to urgent care one weekend and was prescribed vaginal estrogen medicine. It did the trick but I didn’t want to use estrogen. I went to a GYN that recommending organic coconut oil to use externally only. This was a few years ago and it has worked perfectly. I have never had another problem. At all. I wanted to pass along a natural inexpensive solution to vaginal atrophy.

Who did the procedure? My mom might benefit from that.
I’m in Novato, CA (25 minutes north of San Francisco.) Her name is Dr. Pathi, gynourologist. There are medicines for this, but the cost is over the top, even with the Plan D. Good luck! It’s so great to not have to plan my outings based on where is a bathroon or limit my water intake.
Thanks for your post. My (female) urologist who specializes in issues of women offered me the botox injections which sounded very invasive. Thanks again for your description. I'm going to look into this further. Similar to your comment, she said that the injections have to be repeated at intervals, but reported that they had been very effective.
thanks, just started back on estrace, an it seems to help. Just generally feels better down there. hoping it will help with my uti's.
May want to consider ESTRING https://www.estring.com/vaginal-atrophy-relief
Thanks!!! Since organic coconut oil has worked perfectly and safely for years and it’s cheap, I’m sticking with it.
Hi Willow I am in Novato also and was going to Dr. Pathi but got nowhere. I was having constant UTI's and she didn't help at all. I'm glad you found help with her. I finally went to Dr. Robert Chan who specializes in female urology. Also I have an immune deficiency and my immunologist at UCSF sent me to an Infectious Disease specialist. If I don't use my Estradiol vaginal cream on a regular basis I have a lot of problems including urinary problems.
Vaginal cream estrogen and regular Kegel exercises
I saw a female uro-gyn in Providence RI and was prescribed a 10mg generic estradiol tablet suppository twice a week. Vagifem is the proper name. The generic is still a bit expensive but i cant stand the goop (cream) version. Pharmacy discount cards like GoodRx help with cost.
I’m so grateful that organic coconut oil works perfectly for me. Cheap, safe and effective.
