Umbilical hernia and ventral hernia

Posted by bonnie51k @bonnie51k, Jun 24 11:19am

Just came back from the doctors. I have an umbilical hernia and ventra hernia. I am not going to have any more surgeries so I went on Amazon and I bought a hernia girdle so this way by pressing it in there's no pain

Hi, @bonnie51k - I moved your post because I thought the topics of umbilical and ventra hernias merited their own discussion.

How much pain are you in currently, and how are you managing it while awaiting your device?

No pain at all with my two new hernia - (ventra and umbilical). However many years ago I did have a spangalion hernia and a small hernia did come from that that I never really got fixed. But I noticed with these new hernia they appeared after gallbladder removal. The real small hernia by my groin that I had for many years is now giving me pain??. I ordered a girdle from Amazon to bring in my stomach to apply pressure but there's no pain with the new hernia (It's just a lot of discomfort. There's a longated hard lump over my navel. I had my gallbladder removal on March 29th and I did have the hard lump but as time goes on now my stomach is completely swollen. Since the gallbladder removal in March, I developed esbl e. Coli which resulted in a UTI which is still very prominent in my system. So I don't know if the infection is making it worse. I go for urine test every couple weeks and that keeps on coming out differently with everything boils down to e coli but at least I'm not in another attack which I'm grateful for
If my new two hernias do give me any problems such as pain I will let you know. But right now it's just uncomfortable and and it's just creating pain in the one that I have near the groin that I had for a number of years . I look very pregnant. Completely swollen

@bonnie51k I had an ileostomy and developed a double hernia right next to it. It made wearing a pouch difficult. I had a reversal and hernia repair with mesh. No more problems! Nobody wants surgery. I get your reluctance but you can't stay as you are. Something is wrong! What has your doctor recommened?

Back in 2006 I had a spangalion hernia. The doctor put in the mesh but it wasn't a defective mesh but it was so long that it curled up and it tripped on my nerves. I was in pain for 4 years. Finally it was taken out in another mesh was not put in. He sewed it in. Back in 2015 I went back in again and they said that I had another hernia but with all the pain I went through for those for the 6 years I just said let It Go. I am actually petrified to go back and have surgery. I went in March 29th. I had a severe gallbladder attack. They took out my gallbladder and I ended up with esbl e. Coli and I end it up with lvbbb which is left ventricle bundle Branch block. . I was discharged from the hospital and on April 15th I had another severe e coli attack and this time I was in the hospital for 3 days and they released me and then on April 27th I had another severe e coli attack. I was in the hospital for 6 days so mind you I did hace septic. So since March 29th I told May 6 I was on high potent antibiotics everyday. And with everything going on I developed this UTI and I guess I had it when I was in the hospital too from the e coli. The first time that they swabbed me a couple weeks ago I had guardnella. Now Hematuria. Now I have hernias. I was told I am now e coli susceptible. I cannot have any greens without them being cooked because they might have e coli on it. I had to get rid of my garden. I have to constantly wash my hands. Just touching the wrong thing. Will put me back into an e coli state again. I had to cancel my nuclear stress test from my heart because I can't have any injections cuz with the e coli still in me it will give me sepsis. Going to see the hernia doctor next week. I also have an appointment with infectious disease in the first week of July. I also have an appointment with a urologist gynecologist. So at this present moment I'm just waiting lathering myself with all kinds of creams that were prescribed for me down there. So the vulva will stop burning . So I don't know what I'm going to do if he tells me I need surgery?
