I have had E. coli since 2018.

Welcome to Mayo Connect. I normally do not get UTI, but just tested positive last week despite no symptoms. When they also did a bacteria culture of urine, it showed e-coli.

Can you expand on what is being tested for e-coli, your urine?

How did you first get E. coli infection? Are you getting blood tests for E. coli?

Peeing blood and having significant pain is NOT normal and NO, women should not be ignored and allowed to suffer! Fire this doctor!

What types of specialists are you working with? Are you seeing/working with a gastroenterologist, urologist

First, you need a specialist is you are not seeing one. Secondly, if you do not have one, I recommend getting a bidet right away and use it every time you go to the toilet. I am 74 and had UTI's for several years, numbering about 6 per year, which I think is a lot. Every time my doc gave me meds, I got over it, but she said we had got to get these under control or else meds would cease to work.
One day while reading on the internet and trying to figure out what was causing all the uti's I read that almost all UTI's were caused by E.coli. They mentioned to get a bidet. I got one about a year ago, use it every single time I go to the toilet, and I have not had a UTI since. I have told my doctor to encourage women with UTI's to get bidet's. They work. I think mine was 50 bucks on Amazon. They easily hook to your toilet in just a few minutes. You don't need the fancy kind. The cold water isn't as bad as it sounds.
Seriously, it's been over a year and I'm UTI free. Not saying I will never get another, but certainly not if I can help it! Good luck to you.

My dougther have recurrence uti,double bilateral ureters were fit soon after the diagnosis,she was in antibiotics profiilaxis for many years,recurrent infections never stop.She is 30 years old today was the last inf.were in the hosp.dr put her in Aumegting just trying? Is this correct?

What you're experiencing is not common and not ok. You should not be experiencing pain and seeing blood!!!!! I too have been experiencing chronic UTIs and feel like the medical community doesn't listen to women that are experiencing this. I've had many test for UTI come back negative, but I still am given antibiotics. The best advise I can give you is to go to LiveUTIfree.com. They have amazing resources!!!! You could possibly have embedded bacteria. Please let me know how it goes.

OMG sorry. I'm not giving up and I know I'm a pain in the butt to the doctors but I really don't care. I went to my gynecologist and they did a swab on the outside and I end it up with guardnella. I was giving creams which really didn't help because I've been on them for about a month. So I insisted on another urine test now I have hermtura. My doctor made an appointment for me to see an infectious disease doctor and also made an appointment for me to see a urologist gynecologist. These are the two doctors you must see. Just don't give up. If if if you check hemturia it will show there's two different types. One is that there's blood in your urine that you can't see and the other one is blood that you can see which is in need of medical attention. Go to your doctor. Tell them that you want a complete urine test. This is how I found out I had esbl e.Coli . I was told that I was e coli susceptible and to stay away from All Greens, spinach, kale cuz even if you wash it really good. It's still going to have e coli on it. Have everything cooked. No onions. Do not touch cold cuts. Wash your hands afterwards.
Insist on a urine test And go to gynecologist for a swap test. The swab test showed the guardnella and the urine test hemturia. When I looked it up. Yeah it it seems as though that e coli turned into those. If you're bleeding please don't hesitate . What is so strange is that my urine test turned out fine. I looked at all the numbers and they are all okay but then I get another report stating that I had hemturia? So is it coming from my kidneys or is it coming from my bladder. I checked out this word and it could be that I could have an infection in my kidneys or an infection in my bladder, which maybe this is why the urine test turned out to be okay. Go see a urologist gynecologist or else just a urologist that specializes in kidneys and bladder diseases all steming from ecoli and UTI. Don't give up.
A lot of people just listen to their doctors but you got to realize doctors a lot make mistakes or Many are too busy and they just don't care. I believe when I had my gallbladder taken out that they gave me too much anesthesia and I ended up with esbl e coli which esbl is only from surgical instruments and lvbb b which is left ventricle bundle branch block. Heart condition caused by too much anesthesia. Now what? I'm trying to say a lot of doctors don't know what they're doing so we have to be our own advocates cuz no one's going to fight for us like we are no doctors no one. Let me know what's going on. Let me know about the test and if your doctor refuses to give you a test, go over to emergency and tell them that you're bleeding and they will do all the testing for you. Don't suffer. It's your body and you know that there's something wrong. Look I'm 75 years old and I may have the point. I don't care whose feelings I hurt anymore by going above their heads. You're at my age. You just don't care. You just got to preserve what life you have left and I'm going to keep on searching until I get this out of my body and you should do the same
