Type 2 Inflammation

Posted by dustbreath @dustbreath, 4 days ago

I have not discussed with my Pulmonologist yet. Will see him at the beginning of May. Constant symptoms with mucus, coughing, breathlessness, heaviness in my chest. I have tried so many types of inhalers that either don’t help much or have awful side effects. My blood work shows a definite pattern for Type 2 Inflammation. Which is why I started researching the Dupixant. Just wonder if anyone can weigh in on this, or has experience with?

I am to go on Dupixant as my Dr tells me it will work on most patients. I am waiting for a grant to pay for it as it is very expencive.

I have had similar issues and for the last 6 weeks a daily antihistamine has helped enormously...although I don't have the inflammatory markers. Worth a try. Best wishes.

You must first get a blood test. In order to qualify for Dupixent, you must have raised blood eosinophils.

Thanks. I take singulair everyday so will ask my dr. about that as I don’t know if the two can be taken together. That would be a simple fix, for sure.
Thank-you

I was thinking that eosinophils, neutrophils, and basophils were all the same type of white blood cells. Now I see that they are different. Thanks for that.

@snoohow many shots did you get before you begin to notice a difference. I took my 4th this wee0k and I don't see a difference. I have asthma and copd

I’m one of the lucky ones. I saw a difference after 3 days, and especially after 2 weeks. I have asthma/ copd also. Ridiculously expensive, but working fantastic for me. I have only used my albuterol a couple of times since starting Dupixent, and I really didn’t need it. Best of luck to you!
