Treating low blood pressure

I have had difficulties walking along with weakness, confusion and fainting for nearly 10 years. Many doctors. Just drink more water. I feel great sitting.

Have you ever been tested for POTS? Postural orthostatic hypotension. You may be inclined that way.

It sounds like you need additional support for possible orthostatic hypotension. Have you had your blood pressure tested both seated and standing after one
minute supine.?
Medications are often the culprit . A cardiologist may be
more focused on the cause. I was advised to increase my
salt consumption and drink 2 plus quarts of fluids daily.
There are balance exercises that may help us prevent falls.

I’ve been dealing with similar sx for 8 mos due to heart issues - 10 years is too long. If you haven’t already, talk to your doc’s about compression hose - what level of compression would be best for you- and even abdominal compression. Both have been very helpful when my B/P bottoms out. I find personally that shapewear is more comfortable and tolerable than true abdominal binders available on line. As others said please get evaluated for POTS. Hugs.

I have low blood pressure and recently experienced fatigue and fainting and I am feeling very tired every day. What medication with low side effects, should I take? Dr. Recommend me to take Didodrine. I’m not sure if it’s the right medication. Any comments ?

@kimhwelljeh perhaps it’s Midodrine? I took that briefly ehen my B/P was v low after ablation. I took it only in the morning and only for about 2 mos. Talked it over w my PCP who prescribed it, and done days I only took 1/2- needed it for snout 2 mos and then stabilized. I also used compression hose and abdominal compression when it was at its worst. I still use the hose at times when my B/p is E5 on my OMRON.Good Luck

@babheart Thank you for your reply to my question. My doctor put me on midodrine 5mg and it didn’t work so they tried 10mg but it still didn’t work to elevate my blood pressure. When I stand up my blood pressure drops as low as 80 over 38 but when I lay down it goes up to 175 over 98. It’s mind boggling to me.

@seniormed
Because I keep passing out, I was admitted to hospital 4days ago and they did all kinds of tests but couldn’t find anything wrong with me. So they did blood pressure test both sitting and standing but the results are negative.
Thank for your input. It was very helpful.
